MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA: Ethan Plath and Olivia Plath from 'Welcome to Plathville' will confront the end of their marriage in the Season 5 finale of their reality show.

In a preview clip for the December 5 finale released on TLC's Instagram page, Ethan expressed that his separation from Olivia is "not what [he] ever wanted."

Ethan says that he has always wanted to have children with Olivia and that he adores her. Things, however, have not been the same since.

Ethan now perceives that Olivia has undergone a change, and the principles she currently advocates are not ones he would desire for his children.

Olivia contends that the most important principle is the bond they would have had with their children.

"I can't go back to who I was when I was 20," Olivia sobbed to her husband.

During a discussion with a producer, the couple was asked whether they "still love each other," but the camera shifted to another scene before either Ethan or Olivia could respond.

The preview concluded with Olivia walking away, and a narrator assured viewers that the upcoming episode would be a "heartbreaking" conclusion.

"The end of an era," the network captioned the footage. "Ethan and Olivia reach their breaking point on the season finale of 'Welcome To Plathville.'"

When did 'Welcome to Plathville' stars Ethan and Olivia Plath split?

On October 27, the couple revealed the end of their five-year marriage through individual posts on Instagram.

They had been married since October of last year.

In his statement, Ethan wrote, "Olivia and I have parted ways. It just didn't work between us, though Lord knows we both gave it all we had. It seemed we were constantly pulling each other in opposite directions in life with different goals."

"I wish Olivia the best in the future ahead," he continued. "I care for her deeply and always will."

On the other hand, Olivia said, "Ethan and I have decided to go our separate ways."

"I have ambivalent memories of us being 18 years old, innocently dreaming of forever—but the partner you choose is a reflection of the world you want to live in, and at 18 I didn't know who I was or what kind of life I wanted to create for myself," she added.

Olivia's statement further discussed their restricted, fundamentalist Christian upbringing—specifically, her journey to break free from it.

"7 years later, I've already begun my journey of questioning, deconstructing, and rebuilding," she noted, "and I know that is a process that I will continue to prioritize throughout my life."

Olivia concluded her post by congratulating Ethan and wishing him luck.

"There were good moments and I want to remember and honor those," she shared.

"We fell in love as children and are going our separate ways as adults. Wiser, older, and braver. We will be okay. Thank you for the good times, Ethan. I wish the best for you," she added.

Olivia and Ethan have chosen to divorce, but she is not completely relinquishing her connection to the marriage, despite its conclusion.

In a recent Instagram post's comments section, Olivia hinted that she intends to retain the last name Plath, even if she is no longer married to Ethan.

Olivia responded to a fan who suggested, "Change that last name little lady," by stating that she doesn't have to alter her last name at all.

"Because last names belong to men?" Olivia inquired. "Nah f*** that. This is my name, and I don’t have to change it for anyone unless I want to."

Olivia's sister, Lydia Meggs, has emerged in connection with her sister's divorce from Ethan and has refuted allegations of Olivia's infidelity.
