LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The recent announcement of two new cast members for 'The Umbrella Academy' Season 4 will benefit the series finale in two different ways. The remaining Hargreeves siblings spend the last episode of 'The Umbrella Academy' Season 3 in a new version of their original universe that is now run by their adoptive father, Sir Reginald. The Umbrellas and Sparrows will have to navigate their strange surroundings and come across some unfamiliar faces in 'The Umbrella Academy's last season, Season 4.

Nick Offerman and wife Megan Mullally, as well as David Cross, have joined the cast of 'The Umbrella Academy' Season 4 as three new characters, according to Deadline. Offerman and Mullally will play married community college professors Dr Gene Thibedeau and Dr Jean Thibedeau. Meanwhile, Cross will play Sy Grossman in the new season.

‘The Umbrella Academy’ Season 3 dethrones ‘Stranger Things’ Season 4 as Netflix top show

New cast needed for show's ending

Comedy is essential for 'The Umbrella Academy's' resolution, and Mullally, Cross, and Offerman are all veterans of the genre. Their presence will ensure the fourth season of 'The Umbrella Academy' continues to have a lighthearted element, perhaps even a little more, to counterbalance what is anticipated to be a dramatic and moving conclusion. The final season will be kept playful by Offerman, Mullally, and Cross as the Hargreeves face their father and all of the show's subplots are resolved.

Offerman to offer comedic balance

With his gut-wrenching performance in 'The Last of Us' Episode 3, Nick Offerman is a particularly noteworthy addition to 'The Umbrella Academy' Season 4. Offerman demonstrated his dramatic acting chops as Bill in 'The Last of Us', garnering praise from critics. Bill's story is quite serious, yet Offerman and Murray Bartlett as Frank managed to inject humor and lightheartedness into the episode. Season 4 of 'The Umbrella Academy' will require a lot of balance of this sort.

After Offerman's brilliant 'The Last of Us' performance, the audience expects a mixture of laughter and tears from the actor. 'The Umbrella Academy' has taken viewers on a roller-coaster of emotions since day one, with the horrific births of the Hargreeves leading right into the hilarious montage of Sir Reginald followed by a procession of prams. Having Offerman, Mullally, and Cross on board guarantees that Season 4 will uphold the show's legacy.
