Superhero movies and TV shows have become a rage nowadays and every possible network is trying to join the bandwagon by introducing new projects based on comic-book characters. In 2019, Netflix stunned the world by coming out with a unique time travel superhero show ‘The Umbrella Academy’ which gave audiences a new perspective and showed how a project can stand out among the countless other superhero series.

The show received positive reviews and it was renewed for a second season as well. Interestingly, Season 2 turned out to be even more successful and garnered universal acclaim. According to Netflix, the second season of the Netflix show was seen by over 43 million households in the first 28 days of release, becoming the sixth most-watched show of that year. Fans were eagerly waiting for the gang to return and the time has finally come when viewers will be once again going for an adventure with the dysfunctional family of adopted sibling superheroes.

'The Umbrella Academy' Season 2 Ending Explained: Here's how show connects to the comic 'Sparrow Academy'

Netflix is set to come out with the highly anticipated Season 3 of ‘The Umbrella Academy’ and give us some answers about how the Sparrow Academy was made. The ending of Season 2 left everyone on the edge of their seats with only one question in mind: Is Ben on the side of good people? Well, we might get a detailed explanation about that in the upcoming season.

Here’s everything you need to know about the Season 3 of Netflix.

When does ‘The Umbrella Academy’ Season 3 release and where can you watch it?

The third season of the highly popular show will be premiering exclusively on Netflix on Wednesday, June 22. According to the Netflix Press site, the season will be available streaming at 3:01 am EST.

Viewers can download the Netflix app from Google’s Play Store and Apple’s App Store to watch their favorite movies and TV shows.

What is ‘The Umbrella Academy’ Season 3 all about?

The official synopsis reads, “After putting a stop to 1963’s doomsday, the Umbrella Academy return home to the present, convinced they prevented the initial apocalypse and fixed this godforsaken timeline once and for all. But after a brief moment of celebration, they realize things aren’t exactly (okay, not at all) how they left them. Enter the Sparrow Academy. Smart, stylish, and about as warm as a sea of icebergs, the Sparrows immediately clash with the Umbrellas in a violent face-off that turns out to be the least of everyone’s concerns. Navigating challenges, losses, and surprises of their own – and dealing with an unidentified destructive entity wreaking havoc in the Universe (something they may have caused) — now all they need to do is convince Dad’s new and possibly better family to help them put right what their arrival made wrong. Will they find a way back to their pre-apocalyptic lives? Or is this new world about to reveal more than just a hiccup in the timeline?”

Who stars in Season 3 of ‘The Umbrella Academy’?

The original star cast will be returning for Season 3 as well. Elliot Page will now be playing the role of Viktor Hargreaves on the show and the character will come out as a transgender man during Season 3. On the other hand, Aidan Gallagher will be reprising the role of Five Hargreaves on the show.

Elliot Page

One of the most prominent names working in the Hollywood industry, Elliot Page requires little introduction. The actor came to prominence after showing his impeccable acting skills in the 2005 movie ‘Hard Candy’. However, he garnered worldwide recognition with the release of the 2007 movie ‘Juno’, in which he played the titular character. The movie turned out to be a massive hit and made him earn his first Academy Award nomination.
Since then, Elliot has been a part of several other high-end ventures such as ‘Inception’, ‘Super’, ‘To Rome with Love’, ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’, ‘The Umbrella Academy’ and ‘Flatliners’.

In December 2020, Page stunned the world when he publicly came out as transgender. As soon he came out as a trans-man, everyone started asking if he would still be a part of ‘The Umbrella Academy’ or not. The makers were quick to respond to that query and announced that Page will continue to be an integral part of the show, confirming that the actor will be on the show.

Other actors to feature in the series include Tom Hopper (Luther), David Castaneda (Diego), Emmy Raver-Lampman (Allison), Robert Sheehan (Klaus), and Justin H. Min (Ben Hargreaves).

New cast members joining the show include Justin Cornwell, Britne Oldford, Jake Epstein, Genesis Rodriguez, and Cazzie David.

Showrunners

Based on the comic-book series of the same name, the series has been created for television by Steve Blackman.

Apart from Blackman, notable personalities such as Jeff F. King, Jesse McKeown, Mike Richardson, Keith Goldberg, Scott Stuber, Beau Bauman, Jeremy Webb, and Gerard Way also serve as executive producers on the show.

Latest News

Although no one is thinking about the show’s conclusion, creator Steve Blackman has revealed that he already has “an ending” in his mind. The showrunner also made it clear that he doesn’t have any plans of taking the show to 10 seasons and would want the show to return for another season.

In an interview with IGN, Blackman said, “I’d like another season for sure. From the very early start of this, I had an idea where I wanted the TV show to end and I would love to have another season to get close to that ending. I already know what I want the endgame to be.”

Trailer

The trailer gives an in-depth look at what’s in store for the Hargreaves siblings and audiences. It also revealed that a “Kugelblitz” has been unleashed and the entire gang is “screwed” now. You can watch the trailer here.
