'The Voice' Season 29 finale: Predicting the winner ahead of the four finalists' ultimate showdown
All eyes are on the four finalists ahead of the finale of 'The Voice' Season 29, especially after the new voting format. Liv Ciara, Lucas West, Alexia Jayy, and Mikenley Brown will square off in the ultimate showdown after their impeccable semifinal performances. To quickly recap, Ciara performed 'Flashdance…What a Feeling' by Irene Cara, while Jayy made her case with a powerful rendition of Aretha Franklin’s 'I Never Loved a Man'. Brown picked 'I’m Not the Only One' by Sam Smith, and West chose 'Maybe I’m Amazed' by Paul McCartney. The performances that floored the judges catapulted all four to the season finale on Tuesday at 9 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.
Our money is on West purely because he is a pianist — that gives him the edge over the other contestants. Add to that the fact that he can sway the audience with his energy and bring enough conviction to the table. The other choice is Brown for her improved performances throughout the season. From the subtle modulation of her evolved, unique tone, she just might be the surprise package. For now, the frontrunners seem to be Kelly Clarkson's Brown and John Legend's Lucas West after their performance earned rave reviews from the judges.
Earlier, Kelly Clarkson lavished praise on West. "There are very few artists I would go to a stadium for because I don’t find them very intimate, and I don’t think people pull them off very well, but it’s funny because I think you’re the one performance tonight that would just crush in that environment. The whole experience is awesome to behold. You’re not just a great voice. You’re a great artist," per Parade. However, with each coach having secured at least one win in past seasons of 'The Voice,' the competition remains tight as the finals approach.
This was followed by Adam Levine, who made the bold call when he praised Ciara. "I am very sad right now. My sadness is that you’re not on my team because I think right at this moment, you would win 'The Voice.' We all decided this right now. Actually, I don’t wish that you do that because, again, I have to remind myself, you are not on my team. I thought maybe I had a good chance of winning this year, a chance that is still there, but not as much as before I saw what you just did. I am a huge fan of yours." That said, the judges' comments aren't to suggest Brown and Jayy aren't in the running. Only time will tell who will be crowned the winner in the highly anticipated finale.
