'Survivor' 50 recap: An unexpected vote-out leaves one tribe rattled but Zac Brown steals the show
'Survivor' 50 Episode 4, 'Knife to the Heart,' lived up to its title as the game's prolific strategist was blindsided by one of his allies in the latest episode that aired on March 18 on CBS. Last week's tribe swap saw the 'David & Goliath' trio - Christian Hubicki, Angelina Keeley, and Mike White - reunite in the Vatu tribe. They strategically took out Quintavius 'Q' Burdette in Episode 3 and were in a good place heading into this week's episode. Out of the remaining tribe members - Emily, Christian, Mike, Angelina, Ozzy, and Stephenie - Angelina seemed like the next target. When Mike advocated to save her, his gameplay backfired, and he was sent home in a risky 3-2-1 vote-out.
In this week's episode, Vatu lost the immunity challenge and headed to the Tribal Council for the second week in a row. Fearing the group would turn on Angelina, 'The White Lotus' creator tried to convince Christian to side with her over his new ally, Emily. White put his persuasion skills to the test by comparing Emily to Gabby Pascuzzi, who was Christian’s closest ally in Season 37 but ended up betraying him. It immediately raised red flags for Christian, who saw through White's tactics and decided to take out the self-described 'Machiavellian puppet master' instead. He forged a new alliance with Emily and Stephenie, with the trio voting out Mike in a shocking 3-2-1 vote. Ozzy voted for Angelina, while Mike and Angelina voted for Emily.
While the elimination left some tribe members and fans furious, Episode 4 saw musician Zac Brown, a Survivor superfan, join the castaways in Fiji as part of the episode's reward. The immunity challenge saw the contestants dive into the ocean before attempting to complete an arch puzzle to spell out the word 'celebration.' Kalo finished in first place and won immunity as well as a reward: one-on-one time with the country star. The Cila tribe came in second and shared immunity, but not the reward. However, the Vatu tribe, which could have benefited from Q's physical strength, couldn't finish the puzzle and came in last.
As a result, Tiffany, Aubry, Coach, Chrissy, Joe, Genevieve, and Colby spent the afternoon at the Survivor Sanctuary with Brown. The 'Knee Deep' singer spearfished for tuna and cooked the fish for the tribe members while they bonded over the similarities between 'Survivor' and spearfishing. The group was then invited to let their hair down and enjoy Brown's performance at a private concert. Tune in on Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET to watch the latest episodes of 'Survivor 50' on CBS or stream the next day on Paramount+.
