The reality competition series 'Survivor' debuted on May 31, 2000, on CBS. Over the next 25 years, the series has completed twice as many seasons and is inching closer towards its landmark 50th season. Its latest installment, titled 'Survivor 50: In the Hands of the Fans,' is slated to premiere on February 25. Although a momentous occasion for the series, it begs the question if 'Survivor' will carry on into the future or bow out of the race after its milestone season?

On January 22, Paramount dropped a press release that CBS has renewed the series for 2026-2027 season. Given the show's track record of doing two cycles per TV season, both Seasons 51 and 52 are confirmed. Season 51 will premiere in the fall of 2026 and will be followed by Season 52 in early 2027.

On February 3, the show's executive producer, Matt Van Wagenen, shared his thoughts on the future of the series, while speaking to Entertainment Weekly. When asked if he thinks the show should wrap up anytime soon, he quipped, "I mean, I do not want it to end. I don't even talk about an end of 'Survivor.' It's like, when is the NFL going to end? It's become something different. So I don't envision an end." Based on his statement, it seems the showrunners are not thinking about ending the series in the near future.

He added that Jeff Probst, who has hosted every season of the award-winning series since the start, has no intentions of slowing down either. Praising the host, he said, "No one brings more energy and passion to 'Survivor' than Jeff. I know he loves it the way he talks about it. We work together closely and I see his passion and his love for it. So I don't see that dying anytime soon. He always is able to find something new and interesting, and that sparks him."

On the other hand, in a September 2025 interview with TVLine, Probst also gave fans an update about the next season by adding, "I feel really energetic about our team and our ideas, and we're already working on 51. We're really excited about it." 'Survivor' continues to entertain audiences by reinventing itself with new formats and themes to keep viewers hooked every season. All episodes of 'Survivor' Season 50 will air on Wednesdays at 8 pm ET on CBS and can be streamed on Paramount+ from next day onwards.
