Who is TripleS? 24-member girl group to even rival NCT, fans say: ‘I’m invested’

Popular boy group NCT is known to have one of the most shocking concepts as SM debuted them with an infinite expansion concept. That means, in every comeback, more members were added. So, while NCT debuted with only six members. By 2020, the group had 23 members. There have been several large groups like Seventeen which has 13 members and Loona which has 12 members. But it looks like NCT’s new competition happens to be the upcoming girl group called TripleS.

On May 2, it was reported that TripleS was a new K-pop girl group that would be debuting soon. The group would be managed by Jaden Jeong, Loona’s previous creative director. He has also worked with labels like JYPE, SM, and Woollim. And while the members of the group are being gradually announced, K-pop fans were shocked when it was reported that TripleS would have a total of 24 members.

What is TripleS?

TripleS is a new type of girl group as their company MODHAUS hopes to combine NFTs and K-pop. NFTs are non-fungible tokens which means that they are digital receipts for virtual products. The new technology is dipping its feet into K-pop as fintech companies are partnering up with K-pop labels that are willing to create NFTs of their artists’ music and image. TripleS will also work similarly to NCT as the members will be active through sub-units or solo work. They will also be rotated in group activities so that each member gets equal time in the spotlight.

The company hopes to make TripleS an interactive group as fans will also get to participate in deciding the sub-units and the content through NFTs. The group’s concept and the storyline have also been revealed as the members are said to be otherworldly beings with special powers. They will join hands and display their powers through ‘Dimension’ which will be “recreated every season with new concepts.” We have also been introduced to the first member of the group Yoon Seoyeon.

‘Main slayer’

Fans were surprised with the concept of TripleS as one tweeted, “How are 24 of them going to sing a 3 min or less song?” Another fan posted, “Wait so TripleS will be like nct, 24 members with subunits and rotating members??? Hell yessss I'm invested.” Fans already are excited for Seoyeon as one said, “SEOYEON MAIN SLAYER.” One joked, "Even Seoyeon was trying to figure this out LMAO." However, Triple S also happens to be the name of the group SS501’s fandom, “#RespectTripleSFandom The fandom "Triple S" belongs to SS501 Please respect the 17 years of existence of our fandom! Only Triple S & #SS501.”
