Here’s all the stars returning to ‘Will Trent’ as ABC renews hit show for Season 4
Following the cliffhanger ending of Season 3, the police procedural drama 'Will Trent' is set to return with Season 4 on Tuesday, January 6, 2026. The final episode of Season 3 concluded with a major crisis, as a terrorist group called the Founders Front stormed the GBI headquarters and took Deputy Director Amanda Wagner (Sonja Sohn) hostage in an attempt to force the release of a terrorist leader. In the aftermath, Wagner is critically injured and is seen fighting for her life. The high-stakes cliffhanger leaves fans wondering whether their favorite character will survive the ordeal or bid farewell to the show.
For 'Will Trent' Season 4, the main cast returns to continue their storylines from the previous cliffhangers. Ramón Rodríguez remains at the center as Will Trent, while Erika Christensen continues as Angela Polaski, playing a major role. Iantha Richardson reprises her role as Faith, Trent's partner, and Jake McLaughlin returns as Ormewood, recovering from his collapse due to a brain tumor. Sohn is also expected back as GBI Deputy Director, following her critical shooting, ensuring the core team remains intact as the series picks up from Season 3's dramatic finale, as per US Weekly.
In addition, Bluebell, Trent's loyal dog and emotional support for his loved ones, will also continue to be a featured character. Kevin Daniels, who had a recurring role in the first three seasons as Franklin Wilks, has been promoted to the main cast and will have a larger presence in the series.Meanwhile, Gina Rodriguez, who played Marion Alba, Trent's love interest in Season 3, is not expected to return after their brief relationship ended.
Reportedly, Scott Foley is expected to appear as Dr Seth McDale, Angela Polaski's partner, following the news of her pregnancy. Cora Lu Tran's character Nico, introduced in Season 1 and now Betty's pet sitter, continues to live with Trent. Yul Vazquez's role also expands in Season 4 after his character Caleb is revealed to be Trent's father. In the Season 4 trailer for 'Will Trent,' revealed exclusively by PEOPLE, Trent struggles to control his emotions after learning that James Ulster (Greg Germann), the man who killed his mother and abandoned him as an infant, has escaped from prison.
Then Angie tells him, "You didn't create this guy," to which Trent replies, "No, but he created me." The trailer shows Trent facing with his inner turmoil, seemingly hearing Ulster's voice and even smashing a window at one of his old foster homes. His therapist, Dr. Roach (Margaret Cho), urges him to stop repressing his anger. In the climactic moment, Trent drives away with bruised, bloodied knuckles as Ulster taunts, "So there is a monster in there after all," and Trent ominously responds, "Maybe.""
