Who stars in 'Lawmen: Bass Reeves'? Fans say 'super cool' as teaser for newest Taylor Sheridan western drops
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The first teaser for 'Lawmen: Bass Reeves', a TV series announced by 'Yellowstone' creator Taylor Sheridan, has caused a frenzy among fans. It stars David Oyelowo as the titular character.
The 22-second teaser has Oyelowo introducing himself as Bass Reeves as he says, "I'm the law of this land, I'm Deputy US Marshal Bass Reeves." It also provides brief glimpses him shooting and kicking doors in.

David Oyelowo as Bass Reeves
Oyelowo will play Bass Reeves, the protagonist. Having recently established himself as a mainstay in Hollywood for his portrayal of Dr Martin Luther King Jr in 'Selma', the English actor, director and producer is no stranger to historical tales.
Dennis Quaid as Sherrill Lynn

Quaid plays one of Bass' fellow deputy US marshals in the series. The actor has made waves with his performances on the big screen for decades, most recently in the historical drama, 'The Long Game'.
Shea Whigham as Col George Reeves
Shea Whigham will play Col George Reeves, Bass' stern and unforgiving boss, an homage to the previous seasons of the series. Whigham is well-known for playing Eli Thompson in 'Boardwalk Empire' and, more recently, Pete Strickland in the HBO crime drama 'Perry Mason'.
Garrett Hedlund as Garrett Montgomery
Garrett Hedlund portrays Garrett Montgomery, the so-called "posse man" Bass hires to be a member of his crew. The 'Mudbound' star has a long resume of accomplishments, which includes a role in 'Tulsa King'.
Lauren E Banks as Jennie
Jennie, Bass' obstinate and devoted wife, is played by Lauren E Banks. She recently played Siobhan Quays in the Showtime crime drama 'City on a Hill', whoch also stars Kevin Bacon and Aldis Hodge, per Wideopen country.
Contrary to earlier reports, Bass Reeves is not from the 'Yellowstone' universe. Originally announced as a 'Yellowstone' spinoff it's actually not going to be considered part of the Yellowstone universe, a rep for the show informs MEAWW. None of the 'Yellowstone' or '1883' Dutton family characters will be on the show.

As soon as the teaser went online, fans expressed their excitement. One wrote, "This looks like it’s going to be an interesting series. Can’t wait to see it."
