Who is Rebecca Blasband? 'The Real World' star says she had communicated with John Lennon's ghost for 15 years
First things first, if you've been putting off watching 'The Real World Homecoming: New York' because watching a reality show featuring a group of people in their early 50s is not your idea of entertainment, we ask you to think again. The MTV show which is considered to be the first reality show in TV history has been rebranded and the new season is now airing on the subscription service called Paramount plus which till last week was known as CBS All Access.
For this season, the original cast of 'Real World' from its debut season which aired in 1992 has returned and their lives are being live taped one more time in the same New York City loft from 30 years ago. Episode 2 will be premiering on Thursday, March 11 and there are too many reasons to watch it. For instance, Norman Korpi's showerhead woes and its culmination which was his entire butt being exposed on camera (he really needs to drop his workout routine, we're going to leave it at that). Then there is Heather B with her happy hour cocktails which has everyone excited and brings all of them together, which again leads to fun conversations.

Also not to be missed is Rebecca Blasband talking about how she had a relationship with a spirit for 15 long years. It was none other than the Beatles' bandmember, the late John Lennon who took on the role of a guide/mentor during their time together. More on what she said in a bit but here's a look at who is Rebecca and what she's been up to now since first appearing on the show.
Who is Rebecca Blasband on 'The Real World'?
Blasband, also known as Becky was 24 years old during Season 1 and was quite ahead of her time. Unpredictable in her ways, Becky was not afraid to speak her mind and sometimes said the wrong things at the wrong time. There was also a time when she was embroiled in controversy after another cast member accused her of racism. Currently, Becky is in San Francisco and is a singer-songwriter.
Rebecca Blasband and her relationship with John Lennon's ghost
In a candid confessional of sorts, Rebecca told her loft mates that she had spoken to Lennon's ghost and also revealed that they all had been in his presence because he was with her when she filmed the 1992 season. About how she came in touch with him, Rebecca said that it happened in her dorm room in NYU when she and a couple of her friends were having fun with the ouija board. "Every now and then he would drop in and I would know. It was such an honor," she said.
On being asked if they're still in touch, Rebecca said that he left her in 2002 but not without a proper goodbye. "He wrote me a little song, thanking me and expressing his love," she added. Julie Gentry spoke about her fear of missing out (FOMO) she was experiencing now that she knows and believes Rebecca's experience. "I should have known that. Maybe I would have given them more space," said Gentry who is also Rebecca's roommate. "Maybe I could have gotten in on the action," she quipped.
While Gentry totally believed and bought her roommate's confession, Eric Nies who is taping the show from a hotel room due to Covid-19 too revealed that he has been having communications with spirits since the time he was a small kid and that he wasn't surprised by Rebecca's experience. Andre Comeau, an atheist laughed it off saying "John Lennon would have nothing to do with Becky and it wasn't a comment on Becky, it was a comment on John Lennon," he added.
About the reason she was sharing her experience with everyone after so many years, Rebecca said it was "not to try to prove to anybody but just share my experience." She further said, "It took me years to come to accept it and understand it."
