Who is Vera Steimberg? 'Celebrity IOU' Season 7 star Zoe Saldana surprises makeup artist with stunning renovation
LOS ANGELS, CALIFORNIA: Vera Steimberg, renowned make arrist, has been Zoe Saldana's longtime best friend and makeup artist for years. Vera gained recognition for her work in Zoe's 'Guardians of the Galaxy' character Gamora.
She kicked off her professional career in 1999 as an associate hairstylist and assistant make-up artist on the thriller 'Total Stranger'. The following year, she also worked as a make-up artist in 'Nutty Professor II: The Klumps'. Vera was married to Daniel Moder, who later married Julia Roberts, from 1997 to 2002.
Vera also worked for Eddie Murphy in numerous feature films and was most recently enlisted to work with him on 'Coming 2 America'.
She has been a friend and personal make-up artist with Zoe for around 15 years. Vera's credits also expand to, 'Avengers' sequels, 'Dolemite Is My Name' and 'Dreamgirls.'
However, Zoe recently decided to surprise her best friend with a jaw-dropping renovation. She teamed up with 'Celebrity IOU' Season 7 renovators, Drew and Jonathan Scott to embark on a jaw-dropping house transformation that would leave everyone speechless.
Zoe Saldana reflects on working with Vera Steimberg
Zoe Saldana praised her best friend Vera Steimberg's make-up artistry. In an interview, Zoe shared that Vera has a deep understanding of skin undertones. She added, "As a woman, she understands that women’s skin can change by the week."
The actress elaborated, "She has such deep consideration for skin, but her specialty is understanding and working with women of color."
Zoe further noted that Vera has made her passion to 'complement each of those skin tones she works with in a way that’s always so beautiful.'
Meanwhile, Vera shared that Zoe loves to play with makeup and different looks which give her 'the freedom and challenge to change it up all the time.'
Vera Steimberg stunned by Academy Awards invitation
Vera Steimberg has been in the make-up industry for almost two decades. She has also been a personal make-up artist for A-list Hollywood celebrities, earning her recognition from The Academy Awards recognized her work.
In 2019, Vera found herself surprisingly on the invitation list when the Academy invited only 817. During the interview, Vera expressed her surprise by the invitation and applauded the Academy's initiative for inclusion and diversity. She shared, "I applaud the change."
She shared, "I think being a part of the Academy brings a different set of eyes to things because I was born in a different country and we see movies differently." Vera added, "We need diversity in the Academy and this business in general. It’s something I’ve been advocating for a long time."
