The series' creator/executive producer, Simon Cowell, returns for the final round of auditions, along with celebrity judges Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum, and Sofia Vergara. Who is Neguin?
Since finishing high school, Fabiano Carvalho Lopes, alias Neguin, has been traveling the world to seek and strengthen his artistic talents. He was born in Cascavel, Brazil, where dancing is a part of life, and is a member of the Tsunami All Stars, Super Cr3w, and Red Bull BC One All Stars. He currently resides in New York and considers himself a Hip-Hop cultural and art messenger. His interest in moving his body in dynamic ways began when he was three years old, with capoeira. He then started breaking in 2000, at the age of 13, after falling in love with hip-hop culture after seeing VHS tapes of major breaking events such as the B-Boy Summit in the United States and Battle of the Year (the longest-running event in breaking).
His brothers danced their "club" style, the "flashbacks," and his sister was the one who initially introduced him to capoeira. His family has always been an artistic inspiration to him, but their dancing style was passinho (a form of short tap dance), but what impressed him the most were the tunes they were listening to at the time. They listened to flashbacks and vintage tunes while also listening to Techno and electronic music. He grew up listening to electronic music, and even when he began practicing breakdance, he attended rave parties, thus electronic music was always there in his technique.
Neguin was the first B-Boy to start breaking in his community, therefore he had to invent most of the breaking techniques and concepts that he utilized to establish his dance. He combined elements from all the other movement disciplines he was doing at the time to construct his own approach to breaking in those early days. Neguin's breaking style is a surprising, high-energy blend of aerial techniques, movements done at breakneck speed, crisp execution of his broad arsenal, and variations in breaking ground and power moves. Furthermore, whatever Neguin performs has his own distinct rhythmic flavor.
Everything Neguin accomplishes is based on his holistic way of life. He appreciates the training process and enjoys experimenting with music. He's still greatly influenced by the clubbing and party settings that gave birth to breaking, and he investigates such locations to get a sense of the vibe and what he can produce from it. Neguin has a vast number of competitive wins and trophies, including being one of the famous winners of the Red Bull BC One World Finals, which he won in 2010 in Tokyo, Japan. Among his several title wins are Outbreak Europe 2011 in Slovakia, Paris Battle Pro 2019 in France, and Freestyle Session 2019 in Los Angeles, USA. The 35-year-old has performed as a dancer for Justin Timberlake, Jennifer Lopez, Missy Elliot, Paul McCartney, Erykah Badu, Sean Paul, Gwen Stefani, and Fergie.
Neguin, a globetrotter who is continuously honing his art, is also a coach and mentor, aiming to pass on his knowledge to the next generation of up-and-coming breakers on the scene. Neguin is also a well-known and accomplished artist who performed as a dancer on Madonna's MDNA tour and resided in London while participating in the world-famous street dance theatre production, Blaze. He has been to over 141 countries and competed in over 100 international competitions, and he is the only Brazilian and Latin American to have won the Red Bull BC One championship belt. Breaking as a way of life has helped Neguin physically, psychologically, and spiritually enhance his self-control, awareness, and respect for his body, and he aims to inspire others through his creative path.
He tried promoting Black history and resiliency with the video "To Be." It begins with Neguin walking through a forested location, and then the camera shifts perspective as he begins to break. Himyo Green narrates spoken word over the footage. It's a lovely combination of sound, message, and music. The camera focuses on Neguin for most of the film; nevertheless, this is an inclusive effort, and in one shot, dancer Juliana Kis appears, and they embrace forearms to begin a choreographed routine. The inclusion of a white dancer in a video about Black lives is certain to raise questions.
The last 'America's Got Talent' audition episode airs Tuesday, August 2 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on NBC. On Tuesday, August 9 and 10, the live shows (with a new format!) will begin.
