There was an unexpected twist in the finale of 'Abbott Elementary' Season 5, especially with Janine (Quinta Brunson) and Gregory's (Tyler James Williams) relationship in focus. The show switched from the conventional format of the teachers on a field trip with their students, and this time ended with the PECSA conference weekend in Miami. The duo finally reconciled after having briefly broken up. The finale also saw them plan their Bahamas trip right after the Miami weekend. Earlier, Brunson had teased a major twist and the setup of the next installment in the season finale. "The finale is taking place in Miami, which I won’t say too much about," she told The Wrap. "But it’s a unique one, and it’s partly inspired by some events that are currently happening in Philadelphia education. We always like to, if we can, bring in elements of the real world, especially in education, and especially as it pertains to Philadelphia. So this episode is heavily inspired by some things that are going on right now, but it’s a super fun one. I think people are going to be pleasantly surprised by it." ABC officially confirmed Season 6 earlier this year and is expected to arrive this fall. There is no official release date, but the network might prefer the usual late September to early October window, as it has done for the previous seasons. In the meantime, fans can catch all episodes of Season 5 of 'Abbott Elementary' on Hulu.
