‘Below Deck Mediterranean’ Season 11 welcomes back fan-favorite alum after Luke Brumer’s exit
Previously on ‘Below Deck Mediterranean’ Season 11, viewers witnessed Luke Brumer’s exit after the situation between him and Nathan Gallagher escalated. Eventually, Luke decided to leave after witnessing the ongoing tension on board. Since his exit, Captain Sandy has been looking for a new deckhand, but has not found one yet. However, recently released Episode 9 saw the captain discussing having chief stew Aesha Scott as the deckhand, with Nathan. The latest episode 10 saw a new deckhand joining the crew on Akira One: Max Salvador. Notably, after Nathan hurt his back, he was sent for a checkup after the captain ordered him to get proper treatment. Hence, having a deckhand was of utmost essence.
As a replacement deckhand, Max returned to the franchise. Long-time fans might already know Max from the show’s previous Seasons 8 and 10. He was quite renowned for his “eccentric personality, inconsistent work ethic, and occasional conflicts with fellow crew members,” as Bravo described him. According to his profile on Bravo: “The feeling of driving a motorbike along the coastline” is something he misses the most when he is away from home. His favorite place that he has been is Corsica, France, and the biggest tip he has received is 200,000 euros from a shoe company owner.
Immediately upon his arrival, in a confessional, Max stated, “The French revolution has begun! Did you miss me?” It was because his hometown is Cannes, France. ‘Below Deck Med’ Episode 10 saw Captain Sandy opening up about the newly joining crew member. She shared the “good news” with bosun Joe Bradley and Aesha Scott. “He has experience, and you both know him,” the Captain said. Listening to the news, both Aesha and Joe were excited. “No way, you’re lying! Max is coming?” reacted Joe. Joe, Aesha, and Nathan have worked with Max from previous Season 10. In a confessional, Joe stated (in French), “Are you kidding me?” He added, “He’s (Max) absolutely off his nut, bat s**t crazy. I’ve seen him drive Nathan up the wall. I’d be lying to tell you I wasn’t a tiny bit nervous, but I’ve got it covered. I know how he works.”
In a preview for the upcoming Episode 11, which will air on August 17, things get tense after Max’s arrival. He got himself caught in the ongoing feud between Nathan and Joe. Max told Joe that he deserved to be bosun, after which he received a text from Nathan, “Have my back and I’ll sure make you lead deckhand. Swear.” Reacting to the text and what he was promised, Max confessed to the cameras, “My dream, one day I’m gonna be bosun. But I don’t want to, like, betray my friend Joe.”
