Who is Lee Seung-gi? Idol actor makes comeback after 2 years with pop rock single
While variety show regular and entertainer Lee Seung-gi is a favorite who regularly graces our screens on ‘Master In The House’, many new fans seem to forget that he is also an actor and one of the first major K-pop idols. He is an established actor since the early 2010s and starred as the male lead in several popular K-dramas like ‘My Girlfriend is a Gumiho’, ‘A Korean Odyssey’, ‘Vagabond’ and ‘Mouse’. In fact, he is now cast in another K-drama, ‘The Law Cafe’ which is a court procedural drama with Lee Se-young that will air in August. But what fans are excited for is that we are finally getting singer Seung-gi as he is all ready to drop a new song.
Before Lee Seung-gi became a household name in South Korea, he started out as an idol when he was scouted by none other South Korea’s ‘National Diva’ Lee Sun-hee and debuted at the age of 17. His debut song ‘Because You’re My Girl’ released in 2004 is still a popular ballad all over the country. He went on to win major awards at the likes of MAMA, GDA and SMA during his rookie years and sang the theme song for the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Several of Lee Seung-gi’s singles are modern classics like ‘Will You Marry Me’, ‘Return’ and ‘Time For Love’. He in fact is also a role model for several of our currently favorite K-pop idols as NCT’s Doyoung recently shared he was inspired by him to become a singer.

Who is Lee Seung-gi?
BTS fans also know that they got the first glimpse of RM and J-hope before their debut when they were featured in Lee Seung-gi’s 2011 song ‘A Song To Make You Smile’. The 35-year-old Korean personality is also a much sought-after host having been cast in shows like ‘1 Night 2 Days’, Netflix’s ‘Busted!’ and ’Sing Again’. Also loved by the general public, Lee Seung-gi was given several nicknames like ‘Nation’s Little Brother’ and ‘Triple Threat’ for his successful careers as an idol, actor and entertainer. In 2011 and 2012, he was the most demanded celebrity endorser and was one of the torchbearers at the 2012 Olympics.
Even during his mandatory military service, he excelled and was awarded an Honors citation as he was part of the Special Forces Brigade Black Panther which focuses on North Korean missions and the Army Special Warfare Command. Well, on June 28, it was announced that Lee Seung-gi would be returning to his roots and making a comeback as a K-pop idol with the release of the pop-rock track ‘Don’t Forget, Remember, Don’t Be Late’.
Seung-gi will be collaborating with Captain Planet, Kim Eana who has worked with IU and Grammy winner Miles Showell for the single. Expectations are high as the song is full of guitar sounds and rock elements that complement Seung-gi’s deep and powerful vocals. And while he is known for his ballads, Seung-gi has often shown an interest in rock songs. ‘Don’t Forget, Remember, Don’t Be Late’ will be released on July 1 at 6 pm KST (5 am ET) on all major music streaming platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, MelOn and more.
