NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: The recent ‘Today’ episode was all fun and frolic as the NBC show had its first ever epic ‘summer block party’ and not only the viewers, but co-hosts also had an enjoyable day at New York Studio. While some anchors were busy covering the news and segments, Al Roker reportedly hosted this escapade as a fill-in host, Jacob Soboroff replaced his absence.

On Thursday, July 27 ‘Today’ broadcast, the metrologist and weather reporter Al Roker was replaced by two fill-in hosts, Jacob Soboroff and Savannah Sellers as he enjoyed his time hosting an outdoor event for the ‘Today’ show. Usually, Roker joins Craig Melvin to host the segment; however, the outdoor fun party didn't stop him to ditch the studio and have his delight.

Al Roker’s epic ‘summer block party’

During a recent ‘Today’ episode, the 68-year-old weatherman goes missing as fan favorite fill-in hosts Jacob Soboroff and Savannah Sellers replace his absence. Craig Melvin explained why the guest hosts were filling in as Roker was having a “very busy morning”. He made sure to reveal Roker’s absence to the viewers as he said, “He, in case you missed it, has been hosting an epic summer block party on the plaza”. He continued explaining what the block party is all about, “It's going on as we speak, and Al's going to be cooking, dancing, and drinking, and cornholing. We’ll check back in with him a bit later”. Meanwhile, Jacob mentioned that he had the opportunity to play some cornhole during the block party. Both he and Melvin excelled at the game, showcasing their skills. The footage displayed Roker and the crew having a great time playing together. Even as the block party continued outside, Roker kept hosting the event, while the other hosts managed things seamlessly from inside the studio.

‘Shut up’

Earlier this week, Craig Melvin brutally slammed Roker on a live show for his snarky remark about a production mishap during the ‘Today 3rd Hour’ segment. While interviewing travel writer Mark Ellwood about summer travel deals, a glitch occurred in the B-roll footage. When Mark discussed the Sierra Nevada Resort in California, the correct footage was shown. However, the mistake happened when Mark mentioned the indoor water park at the Showboat Hotel in Atlantic City, New Jersey, and the producers played a clip of someone jet-skiing on the ocean instead. Roker humorously pointed out the error on-air, sarcastically commenting, “That's a huge water park” while the incorrect footage played. In response, Melvin quickly chimed in, telling Roker to "Shut up”, playfully correcting his co-host's snarky remark.
