MORGANFIELD, KENTUCKY: '1000-lb Sisters' Season 5 star Tammy Slaton's mom Darlene Rednour originally hails from Shawneetown, Illinois. She currently resides in Morganfield, Kentucky.

According to Darlene's Facebook bio, she is a "stay-at-home mom" and a grandmother to "10 beautiful grandkids." Darlene revealed in her bio that she loves to cook and take care of her two dogs and her cat, Snowball.

Darlene got married to Frank Rednour in 2013. Unfortunately, Darlene's husband and Tammy's step father Frank passed away on January 6, 2021, at the age of 62.

Although she has not been active on social media, her previous posts featured multiple sweet photos of her alongside her late husband. Darlene made her television debut with her daughters Tammy and Amy Slaton in '1000-lb Sisters' Season 1.

Her relationship with her daughters Tammy and Amy seemed to be strained. This was further proven in the latest episode of the TLC show, where Tammy threw a housewarming party as she returned from rehab after 14 months.

Tammy dropped about 300 pounds and celebrated the milestone achievement with a small house party. She also invited her mother Darlene. However, Darlene did not appreciate Tammy's success or acknowledge her hard work.

The mother, therefore, received backlash from the viewers over her "toxic" behavior. A social media user wrote, "Their mom is the root of their trauma. I hope they can all heal. Even their mom needs healing from her trauma.

Another person added, "Tammy has to feel so good sitting at the table calling her mom out for being such a crap of a mother let alone as a family member. A mother doesn't do that and expect not to be told anything when Tammy returns as a success."

Another critic noted, "Lmao not shocked Tammy’s mom hasn’t said anything to her lol." Another viewer penned, "I said it before and I’ll say it again, she’s a POS. No mother. She was an incubator. Sitting there all smug. Can’t even say it’s great to see you Tammy, I’m proud of you."

Another X user stated, "Their mother is beyond miserable in her own life and therefor a toxic person in their lives." Another X user tweeted, "Wow that's A LOT coming from their mom, but she still didn't say sorry."

Darlene Rednour did not think Tammy Slaton could lose weight

Amy and Tammy Slaton had a rocky relationship with their mother Darlene. The Slaton sisters always struggled to connect with their mother.

Darlene notably refused to walk Amy down the aisle during her wedding with her now ex-husband Michael Halterman. However, Amy previously reflected on her mother's opinion of her and Tammy wanting weight loss surgery.

Amy shared on the TLC show, "My relationship with my mom was always a little rocky." She added, "She doesn't think we're gonna be successful. But I'm trying to fix things with her and prove that we can do it."

However, both Slaton sisters Tammy and Amy proved their mother wrong and underwent gastric bypass surgery. They also have dropped hundreds of pounds in the process.

'1000-lb Sisters' Season 5 star Tammy Slaton gives insight into her troubled childhood

'1000-lb Sisters' Season 5 star Tammy Slaton opened up about her relationship with her mom, Darlene. She revealed, "Growing up, we didn’t get very much attention, we didn’t get very many hugs."

Tammy also offered an insight into how her childhood likely played into her ongoing weight struggles. She revealed, "There was five kids, so our mom worked three jobs."

Meanwhile, Amy shared, "We didn't really get a lot of love and affection growing up. It was actually quite the opposite." She added, "We got told we were stupid, we were lazy," with Tammy adding, "Ugly, fat."

The sisters went on to explain that their grandmother was "basically our mom" and how, after she died, they coped through eating.
