The MBC survival show that got a lot of attention because of (G)I-dle’s Soyeon being a stern mentor has finally come to an end, and it has given birth to a new pre-debut girl group called CLASS:y (Classy). The pre-debut girl group will have a total of seven members who were the top contestants on the show. The show was called ‘My Teenage Girl’, literally translated as After School Excitement in Korean, and which followed a school format.

As the show began, contestants were divided into four groups called Year 1, 2, 3, and 4 that resembled the four years of High School. With the culmination of the show, MBC’s ‘My Teenage Girl’ will soon debut the girl group CLASS:y that comes from the word ‘Class’, which often goes with their concept of school. The finale broadcast introduced the name of the group as well as the seven finalists out of the 14 contestants who will make their debut soon.

Who are CLASS:y members?

After the final broadcast saw competitive performances between the final two groups, ‘My Teenage Girl’ got their Top 7 winning contests via Live Voting where fans chose the contestants who will debut as CLASS:y. The seven members of CLASS:y are Park Boeun, Myung Hyungseo, Hong Hyeju, Kim Riwon, Won Jimin, Kim Seonyou, and Yoon Chaewon.

Yoon Chae-won was the final member to be revealed on the show. Chaewon ranked seventh on the show, and thanking fans for their support she said, “Thank you to everyone who supported and loved me. I will work hard in the future.” Park Bo-eun who was the first member from among the 14 finalists to be selected as a member of CLASS:y thanked fans saying, “Thank you to everyone who has always supported me. It has given me a lot of comfort whenever I was having a hard time. I will work hard to repay you.”

Kim Ri-won who ranked fifth on the show said, “I'm very happy to get a good result.” Hong Hye-ju ranked fourth on the ‘My Teenage Girl’, after which Myung Hyung-seo ranked 3 and was announced to be the second runner up with 209,053.9 points.



 

Top 2 contestants on ‘My Teenage Girl’

Finally, it was announced that contestants Won Ji-min and Kim Seon-you were the final two contenders for the top spot on the show. It was also reported that the winning contestant had secured a total of 243,302.4 points coming in first place. Jimin was finally announced as the winning contestant and she said, “I didn't even think that I would win 1st place because the online rankings were disappointing. I am now feeling the reward for my hard work. This is like a dream. Thank you so much.”

With this, the seven final pre-debut contestants will debut as the girl group CLASS:y in the days to come. While talking about the future of the group, the mentors on the show said, “CLASS:y is just the beginning and the girls will keep fighting until the day that they become Korea’s representative idols, We hope that our precious contestants will support each other and aim to reach their goals.”
