Along with showcasing stellar vocal talent, 'American Idol' Season 24 is also high on the entertainment quotient. The last episode of the singing competition welcomed a star from 'The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City,' Britani Bateman, who was seen supporting her niece Carmen Lorell Martin during her audition. Adding to the list of special appearances, a 1990s country songwriter, Marty Brown, accompanied his son, Christian Brown, to his audition. Lionel Richie was so impressed by the performance that he joked about taking the father-son duo on tour immediately.

Notably, Marty is best known for his song 'I'm From the Country' and for being a member of the Kentucky Music Hall of Fame. Before showcasing his own talent to judges Richie, Carrie Underwood, and Luke Bryan, Christian proudly spoke about his father's accomplishments, saying, "He put out three records in the '90s. He's played on the Grand Ole Opry stage. He's a member of the Kentucky Music Hall of Fame. He is all in all just a great songwriter, a great singer, and a great dad." Bryan immediately recognized Marty, saying, "I know this guy right here."

The audition began playfully with the father-and-son duo singing a few lines from 'I'm From the Country' before Christian stepped forward to perform 'Wildest Dreams,' another song written by his father and inspired by fatherhood. Christian explained the meaning behind his song choice, saying, "It's a song about how much you love somebody. I'm going to be singing for my dad. It's my way of telling him I love him too. I would not be where I am today without him." With Marty watching tearfully from the sidelines, Christian delivered an emotional performance.

As the final notes faded, the room fell silent before erupting into applause, followed by an emotional "that's my boy" from Marty. Bryan acknowledged the touching moment, telling him, "It's got to make you proud to watch your boy do that, right?" to which Marty replied, "Yes, it really does." Richie was the first to react, joking that he could take both Christian and Marty on the road immediately and "make a lot of money," before praising the young singer, adding, "Your enthusiasm for performing, I love. I want to hear more from your vocals." Underwood praised Christian's vocal abilities, pointing out his "surprising range" and noting that his high notes are "a weapon in your arsenal for sure."

Bryan then encouraged Christian to push himself further in the competition, telling him, "I think you definitely got all the tools to really see some rounds in this competition. I think really digging more and more… It's a big-time competition, but I want to see you go after that. I want to see you grow. I'm a yes." Bryan's vote was followed by "yesses" from Underwood and Richie, earning Christian a golden ticket to Hollywood Week. After seeing his 22-year-old son advance, Marty shared that the moment made him feel like he was that age again.
