Who is Calla Prejean? 'The Voice' Season 24 singer joins Team Gwen Stefani after Sara Evans' blessings
UNIVERSAL CITY, CALIFORNIA: Despite being just 22 years old, Calla Prejean has accomplished a great deal in her career. She had already established herself as a renowned singer with 45.5K social media followers before her appearance on 'The Voice' Season 24.
Calla's impressive portfolio includes collaborations with several artists, with country singer Sara Evans being one of the prominent names on her list.
Sara even FaceTimed the young songwriter to extend her best wishes ahead of Calla's performance on the show.
Sara's good luck wishes seemed to have had a positive impact on Calla's 'The Voice' journey.
During her Blind Audition, Gwen Stefani swiftly turned her chair around, securing a spot on her team. Gwen only had one remaining seat, but Calla's performance won her heart and the coveted spot on her team.
Calla, who has been working as a professional songwriter since the age of 17, relocated to Nashville after completing high school. Ever since she has been building her career by collaborating with various music professionals.
'The Voice' Season 24 coach John Legend wishes he had a spot left for Calla Prejean
John Legend, who was overwhelmed after listening to Calla's performance, said, "Did you know that you get to be on Team Gwen because she only had one spot left and she wanted to give it to you."
This made Calla feel thankful. John then went on to claim, "I would have turned for you too." Niall Horan affirmed saying, "Yeah, me too." Sadly, John and Niall did not have any spots left on their team
John went on to compliment the singer, "You sounded so great. Your version was just so comfortable and confident. I loved your performance."
'The Voice' coach Gwen Stefani feels Calla Prejean can work on mapping out her song
Gwen welcomed Calla into her team with an open heart. However, she believed that there were a few things that she needed to work on.
She said, "I think that one thing that we can work on together is also just sort of mapping out the song a little bit better when you're gonna do your runs and how you're gonna do your runs."
Gwen believed Cala has everything it takes to really be a "very very strong" contestant on the show.
'The Voice' Season 24 airs every Monday at 8 pm ET and Tuesday at 9 pm ET on NBC.
