After Ben Stiller and Jessica Chastain 'The Off Weeks' adds 4 new stars and the show is packed with talent
Apple TV+ had first announced the limited series 'The Off Weeks' starring Ben Stiller and Jessica Chastain in the leading roles back in September 2025. In an interesting turn of events, the upcoming show has now confirmed the casting of four more popular stars to its already considerable talent pool. As per a Variety magazine report, Zoë Winters and Ravi V. Patel. Will Yun Lee and Tony Macht will be seen in major recurring roles in the upcoming show.
The report further states that 'The Off Weeks' will comprise eight episodes in total. As of this writing, the powers that be at Apple TV+ have yet to announce an official release window. However, it is known that the show will chronicle the taxing life of a writing professor. The official logline reads, " When divorce throws writing professor Gus Adler’s (Stiller) life into chaos, he struggles to hold things together during ‘on weeks’ when he has custody of his kids. But in his ‘off weeks,’ he’s falling dangerously in love with Stella West (Chastain), a mysterious woman whose arrival puts Gus’ on-week duties and off-weeks ambitions on a fatal collision course.”
Alongside the leading pair of Stiller and Chastain, the rest of the previously confirmed cast includes Annaleigh Ashford, John Cho, Richard Gere, and Arian Moayed. At this point, it has also been revealed that Winters will portray Jenny, Adler's ex-wife. On the other hand, Macht will be seen as Adler's teaching assistant, Kel. The character of Jenny's new boyfriend will be played by Lee, while Patel appears as Gus's friend.
Winters's performance in the epic HBO show 'Succession' as Kerry earned her considerable praise. This was also her breakout role, one that catapulted her to major studio attention. Her other notable works include 'Materialists' and 'Jules'. Macht is known for his moving performance in Broadway's 'Oh, Mary!' and for his role in the FX comedy-drama 'Dying For Sex'. Patel is mostly remembered for his contribution to 'Meet The Patels' while Lee has been cast in the upcoming Christopher Nolan colossus 'Odyssey'. Both Stiller and Chastain executive produce 'The Off Weeks', with Stiller's Red Hour pitching in alongside Freckle Films, which is also represented by Kelly Carmichael in addition to Chastain.
Michael Showalter has been roped in as the director of the show and also serves as an executive producer. Alissa Nutting will serve as the showrunner, with Apple Studios backing the project. Gabriel Fisher and Paul Lee are producing on behalf of Wiip. Dean Bakopoulos of 'Made For Love' fame is on board as an executive producer. Jordana Mollick is another EP on the production, representing Semi-Formal Productions.
