On May 8, 2000, Amos filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in Phoenix, Arizona. Shannon Marie Martin, his wife at the time, was named as a co-petitioner in the filing.
The case was ultimately closed on September 26, 2000, with Shannon being discharged on September 8th of the same year.
Chapter 7 bankruptcy, which is commonly referred to as liquidation bankruptcy, requires an individual to sell their property to satisfy their creditors according to court rules.
