Jason Momoa and Dave Bautista's 'The Wrecking Crew' is the latest action-comedy feature on the block. The Amazon Prime Video film, which began streaming earlier this week, stars the duo as half-brothers Jonny and James as they take on the Yakuza, battling them all over Hawai'i.

It isn't just the plot and performance making headlines. While parts of the film were shot in Hawai’i, a major portion of the film was actually filmed in New Zealand — another equally picturesque location known to be the shooting hotspot for some iconic series, 'The Lord of the Rings' and 'Mission: Impossible - Fallout'.

Earlier in 2024, Momoa shared some images from the movie set in New Zealand with a wholesome message. 'AOTEAROA I LOVE YOU', the 'Dune' star wrote. Aotearoa is the Māori word for their indigenous homeland. The Decider's report added that locations in NZ included Auckland and Queen St, Park Ave, and the east side of Hall Ave.

In related news, the initial response to the film has already sparked buzz about a potential sequel. Speaking to the same outlet, writer Jonathan Tropper said, "I've talked about it with Jason [Momoa] a little bit, and I would have talked about it with Dave [Bautista], except Dave is so busy making two other movies right now. But yeah, I think we have a pretty strong idea."

"These brothers are now united in a way they weren't before and so I think if we did another one, it would be basically to up the ante, up the stakes, and put them in a much more difficult situation than they were in the first one ... and watch sort of whatever relationship they've built between the first and the second one start to unravel, because they're thrown into the trenches again together."

For those yet to watch the actioner, the logline reads, "Estranged half-brothers Jonny and James reunite after their father's mysterious death. As they search for the truth, buried secrets reveal a conspiracy threatening to tear their family apart. The Wrecking Crew stars Dave Bautista, Jason Momoa, Claes Bang, Temuera Morrison, Jacob Batalon, Frankie Adams, and more. The film is directed by Angel Manuel Soto and written by Jonathan Tropper."

'The Wrecking Crew' is streaming on Prime Video.
