NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: In a recent ‘Today’ episode, American anchor Savannah Guthrie takes an abrupt leave from the NBC show as co-host Craig Melvin fills in her absence. None of the hosts present on the show elaborated as to where Guthrie is or when she will be back on the ‘Today’ show.

On Wednesday, July 26 ‘Today’ broadcast, Savannah Guthrie’s seat at the New York Studio was reportedly seen filled by another anchor, Craig Melvin. Guthrie who usually hosts alongside Hoda Kotb was abruptly absent without any explanation. Following this week, Guthrie fulfilled her duties on the ‘Today’ show on Monday and Tuesday, however, she left the next day without informing the viewers.

Where is ‘Today’ Savannah Guthrie?

During a recent ‘Today’ episode, Hoda Kotb's usual co-host, Savannah Guthrie, was unexpectedly absent, and Craig Melvin took her place at the start of the show alongside Kotb. Normally, Melvin joins Kotb and Guthrie about 30 minutes into the program, but on this particular day, he was there from the beginning. Before her absence, Guthrie had hosted the show on Monday and Tuesday. Kotb kicked off the segment by stating, “Good morning. So happy you are with us on this Wednesday morning”. She continued and picked up on Guthrie’s absence, “Savannah is off, but Craig is with us”. However, she did not reveal where her co-host was and if she will be back for Thursday’s ‘Today’ episode or not.

Craig Melvin’s back on ‘Today’

After two-week-long hiatus from the ‘Today’ show, Craig Melvin finally returned on Tuesday as he was vacationing with his family on a beach. Although he did not join Guthrie and Kotb during the first hour, he was seen alongside his co-hosts during the ‘Today 3rd Hour’ segment. He joined Al Roker and Nicky Nguyen while Sheinelle Jones and Dylan Dreyer took their time off on the day. Melvin began with the segment as he divulged his whereabouts and told Roker, Nguyen, and the viewers that he had a memorable vacation with his family. He said, “It’s good to be back”, as Roker welcomed him on the show. He continued, “We went down last week, me, my younger brother, and my older brothers and all their kids went on vacation, beach, pool, beach, pool”. Melvin also played golf with his dad and said that his wife, Lindsay Czarniak surprised him with a family tennis outing. “It was great, but it was like 95 degrees”, Melvin said.
