LOUISA, KENTUCKY: Noah Thompson, the winner of Season 20 of 'American Idol,' has been quite busy. Thompson, a 20-year-old construction worker, auditioned for the show after a close friend signed him up. Noah's performance of 'Giving You Up' by Kameron Marlowe won over judges Lionel Richie, Katy Perry, and Luke Bryan, and he earned his golden ticket to Hollywood.

Thompson was born on April 18, 2002, in Huntington, West Virginia. He attended Louisa High School in Lawrence County, Kentucky. Before auditioning for American Idol, he sang original songs on his YouTube channel, including 'Not a Phase,' 'Pedestal' and 'Heart Painted Black,' as well as covers of other songs. Before Season 21 of the singing competition 'American Idol' premieres on February 19, 2023, let us take a look at what former winner Thompson has been up to.

Where is Noah Thompson now?

Following his time on American Idol, Thompson has achieved enormous success. He recently dropped some new tracks to great acclaim. Noah released two more songs following the success of his 'American Idol' hit 'One Day Tonight,' which reached the top of the charts. After releasing a country rendition of 'Stay,' he followed it up with 'Make You Rich,' which was up for consideration as his debut single. Thompson travelled back to Kentucky to record the 'Make You Rich' music video, which features footage of him and his son. 

Thompson also set out on an 8-city tour with 'American Idol' runner-up HunterGirl. The tour wrapped up in December in St Louis, Missouri, after several performances. Thompson has confessed in an interview that it has been hard for him to spend time away from his family while he works on new music in Nashville and on tours, but thoughts of his son kept him going. He also collaborated with singer Chase Matthew at the Appalachian Wireless Arena in Pikeville, Kentucky. In addition to his new singles and tour, he was even nominated for a People's Choice Award for 'The Competition Contestant of 2022.'

The Kentucky native auditioned for the show with Kameron Marlowe’s 'Giving You Up,' which earned recognition from Marlowe and praise from Lionel Richie. Throughout the season, Thompson went on to cover songs such as Cam’s 'Burning House,' 'The SteelDrivers,’ 'Blue Side Of The Mountain,' and Jason Isbell’s 'Cover Me Up.'

Katy Perry once called Thompson 'The American Dream,' while Luke Bryan later declared Thompson "might win the whole competition." As the season progressed, Thompson revealed that it was his father who inspired him to play the guitar and build a career in music. Throughout the season, Thompson went on to cover songs such as Cam’s 'Burning House.' The SteelDrivers’ 'Blue Side Of The Mountain,' and Jason Isbell’s 'Cover Me Up.'

Katy Perry once called Thompson "the American Dream," while Luke Bryan later declared Thompson "might win the whole competition." Thompson has also impressed the Idol judges and America with countrified renditions of pop hits such as Noah Cyrus’ 'July,' Rihanna’s 'Stay,' Harry Styles’ 'Falling,' Ben E King’s 'Stand By Me,' and John Mayer’s 'Heartbreak Warfare.' He was especially known for putting a country twist on songs from other genres. For his final American Idol performance during the finale, Noah once again sang 'Stay.' This got him a standing ovation from the judges. Thompson has come a long way after his stint on 'American Idol.'
