'American Idol': Katy Perry's response to Noah Thompson's John Mayer quip amuses fans

'American Idol' judge Katy Perry had all the fans chuckling at her witty response after she was put in an awkward position by a contestant on the show. The latest episode featured the three judges picking a song each for the top 11 contestants to perform to. The contestants however have no idea which judge picked which song. So when Noah Thompson guessed that Katy chose John Mayer's 'Heartbreak Warfare', things got awkward.

The 'Teenage Dream' singer, however, handled the situation as gracefully as she could by suggesting Noah read up about her on Wikipedia. Though Noah looked confused, her fellow judges Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan, couldn't stop laughing. Katy was so embarrassed that she ducked under the table and declared that nobody knew her at all. Katy's embarrassing moment ended up leaving fans amused.

Fans couldn't believe that Noah guessed Katy would pick a John Mayer song, considering their past failed relationship. A fan tweeted, "Noah figured Katy Perry picked John mayer’s song Obviously he doesn’t know their dating history. #AmericanIdol." "I was thinking Katy didn't choose a John Mayer song for OBVIOUS REASONS lmao #AmericanIdol," wrote a fan. Another fan added, "There’s no way Katy picked a John Mayer song for Noah. #AmericanIdol." "Noah was really great and def challenged himself. Hilarious that he thought Katy picked the song though lol #AmericanIdol," echoed a fan.
