'Prison Brides' star Svea is actively working towards relocating her partner Joseph to Germany and plans to get married there

ATLANTA, GEORGIA: 'Prison Brides' star Joseph is currently in the United States, having been released on parole. His cousin Jerry and partner Svea, who patiently waited for him during his time in prison, are now by his side.

However, there are plans to make a substantial move in the future, as Svea is working towards relocating Joseph from the US to Germany, intending to settle down and get married there. 

As he geared up for his parole, the anticipation of meeting 29-year-old Svea face-to-face for the first time brought him overwhelming joy. Focused on making the transition to his cousin's basement more homely for Svea, Joseph was committed to ensuring she had everything she required.

In a heartwarming video call with Svea's mother, Joseph reassured her that he would be a caring presence in Svea's life. He shared his aspirations of completing his parole and making the move to Germany, Svea's home country, where they could collaboratively build a new and vibrant life together.

Despite these plans, there were doubts on the internet about Joseph leaving the US for Svea. Speculations arose, suggesting it might be unlikely for him to depart from his family in the US for her.

The skeptics questioned Joseph's intentions as many suggested that he might not move to the US and some others said it was equally impossible for an ex-convict to be able to settle down in the US.

"Wait… Svea isn’t moving to the US? Will Joseph be allowed to move to Germany??? I’m no expert but I do know that some countries do not allow convicts to move in. Hope they did their research!," a user said on Twitter. 

"Can Joseph even move to Germany with a felony conviction? And if so, how is he going to get a job?," said another. 

"Svea is crazy for thinking Joseph will leave his family to be with her in Germany!," said one user. 

"Uh oh, idk if Joseph is gonna leave the US… can he even leave???," said another. 

"Girl Joseph is not going to leave his family and home and move to Germany!! You sound ridiculous!," added another. 

What is ‘Prison Brides’ star Joseph convicted for?

At 19, Joseph committed the mistake of robbing someone at gunpoint. In the docuseries, he vividly recalls the victim's terrified expression, a haunting image etched in his memory.

Joseph deeply regrets his actions, acknowledging how the experience transformed his life and made him a better person worthy of love. The series also explores this dark journey, revealing Joseph's introspection and the profound change he had undergone because of his traumatic childhood. 

How did ‘Prison Brides’ stars Svea and Joseph meet?

Similar to other couples featured in 'Prison Brides', Svea, a midwife from Germany, and Joseph, a federal prisoner in Michigan, initially connected as online pen pals. Their relationship gradually developed over almost six months of exchanging letters.

Eventually, recognizing their deepening connection, they took a significant step forward by having their first video call, and since then there has been no going back for the couple. 

As the docuseries filming started, Svea prepared to travel from Germany to Michigan to meet Joseph for the first time post his release on parole. Initially, her mother, Dorothea, viewed Joseph as a friend and urged caution, suggesting Svea downplay or clarify Joseph's criminal history.

However, Svea reassured her mother that her feelings for Joseph were authentic and reciprocated, emphasizing the depth of their connection despite the challenges they faced.
