STURGIS, KENTUCKY: '1000-lb Sisters' Season 5 star Tammy and Amy Slaton's half-sibling Amanda Halterman is originally from Morganfield, but currently lives in Sturgis, Kentucky. She recently purchased a home near Tammy and Amy.
In the teaser of the TLC show, Amanda considered getting bariatric surgery. Weight loss appeared to become a Slaton family affair as half-sibling Amanda revealed that she was seeking approval for weight-loss surgery.
However, if Amanda gets the approval, this will mark the second time she undergoes weight loss surgery. Seven years before joining the TLC show franchise in 2021, Amanda had already undergone gastric bypass.
In the previous season, Amanda shared that she also battled with food addiction but successfully got weight loss surgery.

'1000-lb Sisters' star Amanda Halterman had a traumatic childhood and she detailed her past in her Instagram stories when someone asked her to touch on her childhood. Amanda revealed that her upbringing was very "different than other folks," per The Sun. She explained they grew up "very poor" with a single mother who had five children.
The reality star also shared a traumatic event that she witnessed when she was six years old when her grandfather died. Amanda revealed that her uncle, her mother's oldest brother, put antifreeze in her grandfather's tea.
As a result, Amanda's grandfather passed away. The TLC show star said, "That was really tough on us. Our grandfather was a very very special guy, and although I was only six, I remember some of the things he taught me as a little girl."
