‘The Road’ winner reveals exciting plans after winning 250K and a record deal on show: ‘I want to…’
Adam Sanders took the spotlight after he was named the winner of 'The Road' on Sunday, December 21. The finale saw him pip runner-up Channing Wilson and third-place Cassidy Daniels. The win saw him pocket $250,000, a record deal, and another major reward in the form of a spot on the Mane Stage at the Stagecoach Music Festival in April next year.
After making a career as a musician, where he wrote chartbusters for the likes of Luke Bryan and Cole Swinell, Sanders revealed his plans for his future. "I’m in the process of hopefully getting ready to record some more new music,” the winner told TV Insider. "I’ve recorded seven songs over the last year, and I’d like to go in and record seven more. Really, for me, it’s just trying to build on this opportunity and try to get out and play as many shows as I can, and also work on new music. I want to try to just continue to fan the flame that this [show] has started for all of us."
He further added that he didn't "really have any plans" to release a full album. "I hope that I can have a full album out sometime in the first quarter of next year." He also outlined that he would take it "as it comes.
"I took my hands off the wheel of my career about a year ago," Sanders remarked. "I’m just taking this as it comes. I’m very fortunate to have been part of this journey and make it to the finale. Whatever happens next, I can’t tell you. I’m not steering the wheel anymore, I’m just going where fate takes me, and the good lord is steering the ship. So who knows what happens next for me.”
Sander was chosen as the winner after he opened for Keith Urban with Wilson and Daniels at The Ryman Auditorium. For his cover, Sanders sang "That Ain’t No Way to Go" by Brooks & Dunn, leaving Urban impressed after his initial challenge. "To win tonight, we’ve gotta get an emotional reaction from Adam,” Urban said. "That’s the thing that’s missing because he’s always working to that high energy level. He’s done a really good job of picking his covers, knowing where he’s playing, how to read a room. That guy can read a crowd more than anybody, but I want to see his heart."
'The Road' Season 1 is currently streaming on Paramount+.
