Why did PETA criticize 'BGT' stars Vardanyan Brothers?

In May 2019, PETA condemned the circus that one of the semi-final acts of 'Britain's Got Talent' used to be associated with for their mistreatment of animals.

In April of the same year, the duo impressed the 'Britain's Got Talent' judges with their dangerous balancing act.

Around the same time, animal rights organization PETA disclosed that the Vardanyan Brothers who shot to fame during the show were previously employed by Circus Sochi, which is noted for exploiting animals in its performances.

Then, the charity stated that it wants the circus to stop using animals in their performances and hopes that the brother's exciting performance will convince them to do so.

The Vardanyan Brothers reassured the production staff that they have never been involved in any actions that harm animals.

A source close to the death-defying duo responded to the claims made against them and mentioned that the duo would "never condone cruelty to animals and are against the abuse or neglect of any animal", according to a report by The Independent.
