‘The Masked Singer’ recalls Twilight trio with Christina Perri's mesmerizing ‘A Thousand Years’ performance
The ongoing 14th season of 'The Masked Singer' is packing quite a few surprises, especially when it comes to the special feature nights. The 'Twilight Night' on the Fox show pays tribute to the legendary movie franchise. The episode is just around the corner and airs on Wednesday, February 12, at 8 p.m. ET, exclusively on Fox. Ahead of the special feature night's upcoming broadcast, the network recently released an exclusive preview clip featuring Christina Perri giving voice to her iconic track 'A Thousand Years' to mark Valentine's Day.
Entertainment Weekly reports that the popular singer-songwriter can be expected to set the stage on fire with her moving rendition of her biggest hit to date. Ever since Perri and Hodges first created the track, it has come to be recognized as almost synonymous with the ethos of the 'Twilight Saga' films. Alongside Perri's performance, the audience will also be treated to a dance routine representing a love triangle between human Bella Swan, vampire Edward Cullen, and werewolf Jacob Black.
Speaking in an episode of Sirius XM's 'The Nikki and Brie Show' back in March 2025, Perri had revealed that she had initially written the track with Edward and Bella's wedding scene in mind. However, the song was later used during the end credits of 'The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part I'. Perri went on to recollect, "This is just such a special story for me; I really was a Twilight fan. I was more of a Twihard. I was like a hardcore Twilight fan . . . (Production said), 'We need a song for the wedding scene,' and I was like, 'Okay, great.' And then the song got chosen, but not for the wedding. They were like, 'We're actually gonna put it in the credits.' And I was like, 'Cool, this is still the coolest thing that's ever happened to me ever because it's my favorite books, my favorite movies.'"
The singer-songwriter further added, "All of a sudden this song is not so much about Twilight anymore," while speaking about the song's influence on contemporary pop culture, "It's this song that everybody's walking down the aisle to, everybody's doing their first dance to...So this song just keeps living its own life and evolving. For the next 10 years, everybody gets married to it, and everybody starts having babies."
Apart from the 'Twilight Night', other special theme nights in store this season on 'The Masked Singer' include 'Ozzfest' in memory of the legendary Rock frontman Ozzy Osbourne, who recently passed away. The 'Red, White & Clue Night' and 'Fear Night' will be organized to commemorate the upcoming sixtieth anniversary of the 'Star Trek' franchise. There would also be a 'Spice Girls' celebration night and another night dedicated to the 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles'. 'The Masked Singer' season fourteen is exclusively available on Fox.
