‘The Masked Singer’ teases a Twilight-themed night with a superstar performance and we're counting days
The ongoing Season 14 of 'The Masked Singer' on Fox packs quite a few punches, and the upcoming 'Twilight' night is most certainly one of them. Designed to play a fitting tribute to the 'Twilight Saga' films on February 11, 'The Masked Singer' will feature an unforgettable performance from a superstar. In addition, Nick Cannon has returned as the familiar host of the music-mystery show, and several other event nights are scheduled for the competition, aside from the regular episodes.
Coming back to the surprise superstar, Christina Perri will show up on the upcoming episode of the Fox show to deliver a homage to the 'Twilight' films. The news was first made public in a Fox press release, which has since been shared by The Futon Critic. Although it hasn't been confirmed yet, one might speculate that Perri's famous track 'A Thousand Years', which she wrote and recorded for the 2012 movie 'The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2', will be among her set list for the evening. The track brought great fame and recognition to Perri and has since been certified Diamond, with over 10 million copies sold in the United States alone. On the other hand, the track's music video has amassed over two billion views on YouTube.
The 'Twilight' film franchise was based on the eponymous book series written by author Stephenie Meyer. The four films in the franchise starred Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner in the leading roles and have built a dedicated fan following. In retrospect, it is noteworthy that the four films, i.e., 'Twilight', 'New Moon', 'Breaking Dawn: Part 1', and 'Breaking Dawn: Part 2' have brought in a total of $3.36 billion in revenue to date.
Furthermore, hosting special nights centered on a particular theme or homage has been a recurring fixture in previous seasons and episodes of 'The Masked Singer'. TV Insider reports that so far this season has featured Fear Night, 'Clueless' Night, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Night. The recently aired Wednesday episode of the popular show was known as Red, White and Clue Night, in honour of the nation's 250th birthday celebration. Several other theme nights have been lined up for the remaining episodes of the Fox show, including 'Star Trek' night, Care Bears night, Spice Girls night, and Ozzfest, with the final entry honouring the legacy of legendary frontman Ozzy Osbourne.
The remaining contestants vying for the top prize include Calla Lily, Cat Witch, Crane, Eggplant, 14 Karat Carrot, Galaxy Girl, High Voltage, Owl, Stringray, Pangolin, Pugcasso, and Snow Cone. Apart from these, a Wild Card Contestant was unveiled in the latest episode. 'The Masked Singer' Season 14 airs new episodes on Wednesday at 8 p.m. ET on FOX.
