‘The Night Manager’ Season 3 release window gets major update from creator: ‘It won't …’
'The Night Manager' Season 3 is in development, and will not see the same hiatus as the second installment did after the opening season's debut in 2016. The adaptation of novelist John le Carré’s espionage thriller took 10 years to return with Season 2, but the planned trilogy will now work at a faster pace. The update came from creator and executive producer David Farr, who revealed that Season 3 is already in the works.
Speaking during Deadline’s Contenders TV panel, Farr opened up about the new season, "Right now, I feel the deep weight of doom of stress about it because I’m the one who has to actually do the writing of the damn thing. It’s a huge challenge. It’ll be very exciting. And it won’t take as long as the last one, I promise." He also added that the new season addresses the unexpected twist at the end of Season 2. "It was important to us all because the world is a tough place at the moment, and it didn’t feel right not to reflect that. But of course, all of us want to see justice, redemption, and we want to see something change, so I feel like Season 3, there is actually a deep emotional and moral imperative to honor that."
Season 2 ends with Tom Hiddleston's character, Jonathan Pine, left for dead in the finale, and Teddy Dos Santos (Diego Calva) is killed off. While he has not kicked the bucket, Pine is left heavily injured, broken, and alone. The final minutes see Pine bleeding in the Colombian forest after his mission to stop Richard Roper (Hugh Laurie) fails, setting him up for a revenge-driven, more desperate arc in the already announced season 3. As for Roper, who was thought dead at the end of season 1, the antagonist returned in season 2 after faking his death and hiding in the Colombian jungles. The final episode ends with him reuniting with his biological son, Danny (Jupe). On the cast front, Hiddleston is expected to return as Pine. Stars who could reprise their roles include Noah Jupe, Alistair Petrie, Douglas Hodge, and Laurie.
The roster of EPs includes Farr, Le Carré, Hiddleston, Laurie, Stephen Garrett, Simon Cornwell, Stephen Cornwell, William D. Johnson, Georgi Banks-Davies, Clare Cornwell, Susanne Bier, Chris Rice, Joseph Tsai, Arthur Wang, Tessa Inkelaar, Michele Wolkoff, and Adrian Guerra. At the time of writing, there is no official release date or window for 'The Night Manager' Season 3. The new season is expected to comprise six episodes, as in previous installments.
