Peacock is gearing up to roll out ‘The Five Star Weekend’, a glossy yet tense drama built around friendship and lots of personal baggage. The network announced that all eight episodes will drop on July 16, so the binge temptation is very real. At the center of it all is Jennifer Garner, who not only leads the cast but also serves as an executive producer, continuing her streak of bringing book-to-screen projects to life while also starring in them. This time, she steps into the role of Hollis Shaw, a celebrated personality known for her cookbooks, polished image, and a life that, from the outside, looks close to perfect. However, Hollis experiences a personal loss that hits deeper than anything she’s prepared for.

And instead of bouncing back the way people expect her to, she begins to drift away from the people closest to her, including her daughter. Relationships are strained, and conversations turn awkward. So she does something a little unexpected. Rather than shutting herself out completely, Hollis comes up with an idea that feels equal parts hopeful and risky. She invites friends from different chapters of her life to spend a weekend with her at her Nantucket home. Each one represents a different era of her life, from childhood to young adulthood and beyond.

Helmed by Minkie Spiro, the official logline of the much-awaited title reads, “In an effort to overcome grief and find herself again, Hollis gets the idea to host a weekend away at her house on Nantucket with three friends from different stages in her life: her childhood, her twenties, thirties, and one surprise fifth star. Set against a luxurious and coastal backdrop, the guests will mature in ways they could never imagine as boundaries are pushed and secrets are exposed.” First-look images have also been released, offering a glimpse into the series’ tone and setting. The stills capture Shaw reuniting with her friends and sharing warm moments with them. The cast surrounding Garner brings plenty of variety to the table.

D'Arcy Carden, Gemma Chan, Regina Hall, Chloë Sevigny, and Timothy Olyphant shape the emotional core of the story in different ways. And that’s just the main lineup. The extended cast includes Judy Greer, Rob Huebel, David Denman, Josh Hamilton, West Duchovny, Tory Devon Smith, Morrison Keddie, and Roberta Colindrez. Behind the camera, the adaptation comes from Bekah Brunstetter, who brings Elin Hilderbrand’s bestselling novel to television.
