Netflix provided a glimpse of what to expect when 'Stranger Things' Season 5 Vol. 1 drops two days from now in the form of an explosive trailer. The first four episodes release on November 26, and Hawkins' heroes gear up for one epic stand against Vecna.

The show picks up in the fall of 1987. With the town scarred by the opening of the Rifts at the end of Season 4, the protagonists are out for blood. Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo) has his plans clear, saying, "I wanna see Vecna’s heart on a platter." It’s a no-holds-barred war as hordes of flying Demogorgons arrive from the ground. Except this time, the gang is ready and has a plan (sort-ish). At the time of writing, the show's faithful gear up for what has been one of the most-awaited shows of the year after a three-year wait.

Earlier, the Duffer Brothers teased what was in store for Season 4. Speaking to Tudum, "I think what’s unique about this season is that it starts a little bit in chaos because our heroes ultimately lost at the end of Season 4," co-creator Ross Duffer said. "We usually set up their normal life and how they’re going about school, and then we introduce the supernatural element. But in this case, this season is sprinting from the start."

The official synopsis reads, "Hawkins is scarred by the opening of the Rifts, and our heroes are united by a single goal: find and kill Vecna. But he has vanished — his whereabouts and plans unknown. Complicating their mission, the government has placed the town under military quarantine and intensified its hunt for Eleven, forcing her back into hiding."

"As the anniversary of Will’s disappearance approaches, so does a heavy, familiar dread. The final battle is looming — and with it, a darkness more powerful and more deadly than anything they’ve faced before. To end this nightmare, they’ll need everyone — the full party — standing together, one last time." The show releases in three phases — the first four episodes on November 26 at 5 p.m. PST, followed by three episodes
on Christmas Day. The finale episode releases
on New Year’s Eve.

'Stranger Things' Seasons 1-4 are available for streaming on Netflix.
