‘Stranger Things’ Season 5 Volume 2 runtime finally revealed and yes, the finale is supersized
The first volume of 'Stranger Things' Season 5 has done a commendable job of rousing audience interest in the Netflix sci-fi show ever since its release on November 26, 2025. Right on the heels of the first volume's positive reception comes an exciting piece of news about the upcoming second volume. Taking to the social media platform Instagram, 'Stranger Things' co-creator Ross Duffer recently shared the episode names and runtimes for the second volume.
The first volume ended on a high note in a finale befitting the fifth and final season of the show. As dark clouds have started gathering over Hawkins, Indiana, the character of Will has found a firm footing after the awakening of his powers. The battle against Jamie Campbell Bower's Vecna doesn't seem to be much of a lopsided conflict anymore. However, as teased by the co-creator, the upcoming second volume of the show is poised to feature several renewed twists and turns with markedly dark and morbid undertones, says the Entertainment Weekly.
The three ‘Stranger Things’ episodes that will be arriving on Netflix on Christmas Day are Episode 5, titled 'Shock Jock,' Episode 6, titled 'Escape From Camazotz,' and Episode 7, which is referred to as 'The Bridge. 'Shock Jock' has a duration of an hour and eight minutes, as per The Hollywood Reporter. 'Escape From Camazotz' will run for an hour and fifteen minutes, with 'The Bridge' being an hour and six minutes in duration. It has also been revealed that the series finale, known as 'The Rightside Up', will be a grand affair with a runtime worth two hours and eight minutes.
Ross went a step further in his post to sprinkle a few details from the upcoming episode. Regarding 'Shock Jock', the co-creator wrote, "'Shock Jock' picks up moments after the end of 'Sorcerer,' Frank Darabont is back, but he flexes very different muscles on this one than he did on 'Turnbow Trap' — it's far darker, and far scarier." Speaking about 'Escape From Camazotz', long-time 'Stranger Things' director Shawn Levy will be bringing his vision of the episode to screen as, "It's the biggest episode of the three — and the performances make us cry every time we watch it", per Duffer. The seventh episode has invited contributions from the trio of Levy and the Duffer Brothers, and is reported to be teeming with emotionally charged performances.
As is widely known, the 'Stranger Things' series finale will be simultaneously streamed on Netflix and projected in five hundred movie theatres nationwide on December 31, 2025, at 5 pm PT and 8 pm ET. This will continue right up to January 1, 2026. Netflix has launched the pop-up website ST5Finale.com, enabling audience members an effortless way to look up the theatrical locations across the United States and Canada that will be playing the finale.
