Netflix releases first-look images for 'Enola Holmes 3' and the release date is closer than we expected
It isn't long before we see Enola Holmes take on the next investigation, and walk down the aisle while at it. Netflix released the first-look images of 'Enola Holmes 3' earlier on Monday. The action-adventure franchise follows 'Stranger Things' star Millie Bobby Brown as iconic detective Sherlock Holmes’ equally clever younger sibling, who solves mysteries in her own style. The major talking point is the wedding between Enola and Tewkesbury (Louis Partridge). 'Enola Holmes 3' releases worldwide on July 1.
The official synopsis reads, "Adventure chases detective Enola Holmes to Malta, where personal and professional dreams collide on a case more tangled and treacherous than any she has faced before. As the private detective juggles the new case and the next stages of her relationship with Tewkesbury (Partridge), the game is truly afoot." Starring alongside Brown and Partridge are Henry Cavill as Sherlock Holmes, Helena Bonham Carter as Eudoria Holmes, Himesh Patel as Dr. John Watson, and Sharon Duncan-Brewster as Moriarty. The last film was released in 2022, in which Brown's character opened her own detective agency and solved a mystery inspired by the Matchgirls’ Strike in London. Director Philip Baranti helms the film based on a script by Jack Thorne. The film is based on Nancy Springer's book series 'The Enola Holmes Mysteries.'
Earlier this year, Netflix sent fans of the sleuth franchise into a tizzy with a teaser for a proposal when it announced its 2026 content slate. The sneak peek shows Tewkesbury down on one knee, with a shocked Enola sitting on the bed. The quick clip promises a major romantic arc for Brown's character after the star previously teased what's in store for Enola. "A very different Enola Holmes that you're going to be able to see," Brown had said per ScreenRant, while adding, "You asked for romance, so we'll give you romance."
Also weighing in was Cavill about the future of his character in the films. "There’s always whisperings of this sort of things, but nothing is ever official until you enter the first day of shooting, and even then, until you finish shooting, and even then, it has to come out. Right now, that’s a that’s all it brings, but I don’t know of anything official just yet." The latest comes on the back of a 'Young Sherlock' series that was released on Prime Video. While the wait continues, fans can catch the first two films streaming on Netflix, while the origin story of Sherlock Holmes is available to watch on Prime Video.
