Missed ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’ in theaters? Here's how you can watch James Cameron’s film at home
After a stellar theatrical run, 'Avatar: Fire and Ash' finally comes to the streamers. James Cameron's third sci-fi epic film was released on December 19, 2025, in theaters in the United States. Moreover, it was a commercial success despite the mixed reviews. However, it was the lowest-grosser of the three films, but it still proved to be a billion-dollar return, raking in $1.488 billion, and becoming the third-highest-grossing film of 2025. 'Avatar' is pencilled to have two more films in the series.
The new film picks up from the events of 'The Way of the Water', following the death of Neteyam (Jamie Flatters), the eldest son of Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) and Neytiri (Zoe Saldaña). He was killed by the RDA (Resources Development Administration) while trying to protect his siblings. In the new film, the Sullys are under threat by the Ash People, better known as the Mangkwan Clan. After linking up with Colonel Miles Quaritch, they declare an open manhunt in the Na'vi and set their sights on capturing Jake. The returning cast includes Worthington, Saldaña, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, and Kate Winslet. According to Rotten Tomatoes, the film's critics consensus reads, "Remaining on the cutting edge of visual effects, Fire and Ash repeats the narrative beats of its predecessors to frustrating effect, but its grand spectacle continues to stoke one-of-a-kind thrills."
The 197-minute feature is now available on small screens. Fans can watch it on Apple TV+ and Prime Video after paying $19.99. 'Fire and Ash' will be available on Blu-Ray, 4K Ultra HD, and DVD on May 19. The physical versions of the film include surprise treats for fans in the form of bonus features and extras. According to 20th Century Studios, the digital versions include a string of featurettes, 'Igniting the Flame: The Making of Avatar: Fire and Ash', which explores the making of the film and the filmmaker's experiences during the making of the behemoth. Also included are behind-the-scenes footage, marketing music videos, and some interactive segments that allow viewers to explore the Na'vi world and learn the basics of their language.
The film's release on Disney+ is yet to be announced. The film's video-on-demand (VoD) release comes just after 100 days of its theatrical release. The streamer's release date will likely follow the same pattern. It would mean a mid-June or early July release. In the meantime, the first two films are available for streaming on Disney+.
