LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: HGTV will contribute to Barbie mania with a home makeover reality show. The network will launch the 'Barbie Dreamhouse Challenge' just a few days before 'Barbie' is released in theatres. The upcoming movie sparked a new fashion and interior design movement called 'Barbiecore' which celebrates all things hot pink and plastic, and the HGTV show is all set to embrace the concept.

Contestants on HGTV's renovation show, which is based on the Mattel doll, will try to create the biggest, boldest and most whimsical home of all time. The show comprises eight teams of experts, who will turn a Southern California mansion into a life-size pink oasis fit for Barbie and her pals.

How much prize money does HGTV's 'Barbie Dreamhouse Challenge' winner get?

'Barbie Dreamhouse Challenge, which will be hosted by supermodel, author and entrepreneur Ashley Graham, will follow eight teams of two people each as they transform a home into a real-life Barbie Dreamhouse. The teams will be made up of 16 HGTV home design and renovation experts. While all of the teams will be working within the same house, each will have a different task to create era-specific rooms, such as an early '60s atomic age kitchen, a '70s disco-esque den for Ken and a main bedroom decked out in '80s glam.

The Barbie house is sure to include plenty of whimsy including a hat carousel, a light-up dance floor and an aquarium. One lucky Barbie superfan will get a chance to live in the renovated house. HGTV has promised thrilling drama as the pressure is on for the teams to unleash their creativity far beyond their usual design parameters to dream of a place that Barbie will be proud to call home. Celebrity judges will declare the winning team, but the prize is ultimately awarded to a superfan, which is a chance to stay in the spanking new home. Additionally, the winning team will have a donation made in their name to the non-profit Save the Children.

What's to come in HGTV's 'Barbie Dreamhouse Challenge'?

'Barbie Dreamhouse Challenge' will feature captivating and nostalgic Barbie content as each team implements daring designs synonymous with the iconic Dreamhouse. The home will include an aquarium that doubles as a desk as well as a combination pet elevator/phone booth in the living room. The Barbie Dreamhouse Challenge is all about turning childhood dreams into a reality.

'Barbie Dreamhouse Challenge' will premiere on Sunday, July 16 at 8 pm ET on HGTV.
