Many heads turned when the 51-year-old actor Leonardo DiCaprio walked into the 2026 Oscars ceremony, sporting a moustache. Apparently, apart from being a pronounced style statement from the 'Revenant' star, the moustache also doubles up as a bit of character makeup for him. It has now been confirmed that 'What Happens At Night' is officially in production with veteran director Martin Scorsese at the helm. The upcoming movie also stars Jennifer Lawrence alongside DiCaprio and marks the seventh film collaboration between the latter and Scorsese. The duo has previously collaborated on such titles as 'The Aviator', 'The Wolf of Wall Street', and 'Shutter Island'.

Apple TV, the studio behind 'What Happens At Night', recently posted a preview image on its official Instagram page. The photo shows DiCaprio and Lawrence holding hands, standing alone on a desolate, snowy street, with a car in the background. The caption simply read, "What Happens at Night is now in production." The film is adapted from Peter Cameron's novel of the same name and follows DiCaprio and Lawrence as an American married couple who travel to a small, snowy town in Europe to adopt a baby. After checking into a hotel, the couple begins experiencing several mysterious incidents.

The rest of the cast also includes Mads Mikkelsen, Jared Harris, Patricia Clarkson, and Welker White. The screenplay was written by Patrick Marber. Back in September 2025, Deadline first reported that Scorsese would move forward with the production of 'What Happens At Night'. It has been reported that Apple Original Films is negotiating to lead production, alongside StudioCanal, which has developed the screenplay. Apple already has first-look deals with DiCaprio’s Appian Way and Scorsese's Sikelia production banners.

DiCaprio and Scorsese came together most recently for the 2023 film 'Killers of the Flower Moon', which marked the veteran director's first outing starring both DiCaprio and another of his long-time collaborators, i.e., Robert De Niro. On the other hand, DiCaprio's look from 'What Happens At Night' has already gained significant traction after he first revealed his moustache during a rare public date night with his girlfriend, Victoria Ceretti, at the Oscars. DiCaprio was also nominated for the Best Actor award for his contribution to director Paul Thomas Anderson's film 'One Battle After Another'. This was the eighth Best Actor nomination received by DiCaprio in his career. Although he didn't win, the award went to Michael B. Jordan for his performance in Ryan Coogler's 'Sinners'. DiCaprio's film 'One Battle After Another' went on to bag six Oscars in total, including the coveted award for Best Picture.
