‘Scrubs’ Season 10 cast confirms fan-favorite trio back with new faces and we're ready for the magic again
Just when you thought you’d said goodbye to those mint-green scrubs and hallway monologues, the hospital doors swing open one more time. The revival of ‘Scrubs’ is officially set to premiere on February 25 with two episodes at 8 p.m. ET on ABC. And before anyone asks, yes, the core trio is back. Zach Braff returns as the daydreaming, occasionally clueless but oddly insightful John 'J.D.' Dorian. Donald Faison steps back into Christopher Turk’s sneakers, while Sarah Chalke reprises her role as Elliot Reid. But it doesn’t stop there. The halls of Sacred Heart are filling up with some more familiar faces.
John C. McGinley is back as Dr. Cox, Judy Reyes returns as Carla Espinosa, Neil Flynn reappears as The Janitor, Christa Miller steps back into Jordan Sullivan’s heels, Robert Maschio revives Dr. Todd ‘The Todd’ Quinlan, and Phill Lewis returns as Dr. Hooch. However, and here’s where it stings a little, not everyone is clocking back in. As reported by Deadline, Ken Jenkins will not reprise his role as Dr. Bob Kelso. Moreover, fans also shouldn’t hope for appearances from the Season 9 additions like Michael Mosley, Eliza Coupe, Kerry Bishé, or Dave Franco. That short-lived era seems to be staying in the past. And then there’s the absence that feels heavier than the rest.
Sam Lloyd, who portrayed the ever-anxious hospital lawyer Ted Buckland in 95 episodes, passed away in April 2020 after a battle with cancer. His character will not be recast, because some roles are simply irreplaceable. There’s one more character that didn’t quite fall into place. When Parade interviewed Scott Foley about his new series, ‘It’s Not Like That’, he was also asked whether he’d revisit his 'Scrubs' character, Sean Kelly. However, scheduling was not on his side. Still, he hinted that there might be a plan somewhere down the line. In his words, “We couldn’t make the dates work, but I think there is a plan.” Of course, a hospital revival can’t survive on throwbacks alone. Fresh interns are scrubbing in.
Season 10 introduces Vanessa Bayer as Sibby, Joel Kim Booster as Dr. Eric Park, Layla Mohammadi as Amara, Amanda Morrow as Dashana, David Gridley as Blake, Ava Bunn as Sam Tosh, Jacob Dudman as Asher, Michael James Scott as Francois, and X Mayo as Pippa. Guest appearances are also lined up, including Rachel Bilson, Andy Ridings, and Lisa Gilroy. Because what’s Sacred Heart without a surprise cameo popping up in the hallway? The original series made fans laugh, cry, think, and cry over fictional doctors, and there's something comforting about seeing these characters again. A little older, maybe a little wiser, and still trying to figure out life between patient charts and cafeteria lunches.
