UNIVERSAL CITY, CALIFORNIA: During 'The Voice' Season 25 finale on Tuesday, May 21, Reba McEntire delivered a significant surprise that added to the excitement of the event. Following her performance in the finals, Lainey Wilson received a heartfelt surprise!
On the second night of the Season 25 finals, the country music artist took the stage to perform 'Hang Tight Honey' on Tuesday. However, what transpired afterward moved her to tears. Coach Reba had plenty to share when host Carson Daly handed her the mic, and it was clear that she was passing the baton to a new generation.

Reba complimented Lainey, saying, "Lainey, I am so proud of you," adding that Lainey had previously mentioned her as an influence. "I am thrilled to death if I had anything to do with your career, 'cause you are blowing it up."
"I was so proud of you at the ACMs the other night, and I couldn't be more proud to be the one that helps you to bridge the gap between our generations," she added. "I'd like to be the person who invites you to be an official member of the Grand Ole Opry."
Depending on the season, the Grand Ole Opry is a regular live country music radio program that airs on WSM from Nashville, Tennessee, two to five nights a week. Every Opry show features eight or more artists, including award-winning musicians, legendary songwriters, and country music superstars.
These artists step into the renowned wooden circle and perform live at the Opry House, captivating an audience that spans the globe through WSM Radio, SiriusXM, and Circle Country.

Onstage, Reba gave Lainey a heartfelt embrace as the latter sobbed as she accepted her into the storied country music institution, saying, "Holy moly!"
Lainey addressed the assembly, acknowledging the presence of her family. "They took me to Nashville when I was 9 years old, and we went to the Grand Ole Opry...," she said. "I knew that I wanted to play there, I wanted to do it."
She addressed Reba directly, saying, "It is so crazy that you're asking me to be a member 'cause I look up to you so much. I'm not talking about just musically, but the way that you carry yourself and your work ethic, you inspire me every day."
Later, Lainey responded to the X news by writing, "Somebody pinch me…I’m going to become a member of the @opry on June 7! This is the moment little Lainey dreamed about ever since her first trip to Nashville. Thank you @reba & @NBCTheVoice for the surprise of a lifetime."

Do artists get paid for the Grand Ole Opry?
According to the union scale, every singer and artist receives $140 for each Opry appearance, regardless of their fame or status. From Bill Anderson and The Gatlins to Dolly Parton and Garth Brooks, everyone receives equal pay.

Who gets to play at the Grand Ole Opry?
Opry management selects new members (with advice from current members) based on various criteria, including commercial and critical success, respect for the heritage of country music, and commitment to participating in the show. Once inducted, members are free to perform at any Opry performance they choose.
