Early life

Heather was born in 1970 in New York to Emily Franks and Scotty Thomson. Her mother ran a restaurant, while her father is a retired senior laboratory technician. The reality star has a sister named Sherry Thomson. There isn't much information available about Heather's childhood.

Fashion design career

Heather may have become a household name after her stint on 'RHONY', but she was already enjoying a successful career as an established fashion designer. In 2000, the reality star was the creative director of rapper Sean "P. Diddy" Combs' fashion line Sean John. Aside from P Diddy, Heather also worked with several A-Listers such as Beyonce, Jennifer Lopez, etc. Thanks to her exposure and growing popularity, Heather launched her own shapewear line called Yummie Tummie in 2008.

According to Celebrity Net Worth, the fashion designer came up with the idea of Yummie Tummie after she gave birth to her children. The reality star was extremely dissatisfied with the shapewear options available in the market at that time, so she decided to come up with a shapewear that was not only sexy and fashionable but also "yummier" than the options available in the market.

Although Yummie Tummie turned out to be a very profitable venture, in 2015 the fashion designer decided to walk away from the business after she filed a lawsuit against her business partner Eric Rothfeld. In an interview with Andy's Girls podcast, the reality star shared, "I was stunted in where I wanted to go with Yummie because I had a partner in the business and he and I just don't see eye to eye. I decided I had done that and it was time for me to move on...sometimes you do need to close a door to open another one."
