LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Derek Hough is asking the fans to keep his wife Hayley Erbert in prayers as she undergoes skull surgery.
On December 20, the 'Dancing With The Stars' judge took to his Instagram Story and revealed that his wife Erbert will be undergoing surgery to “replace a large portion of her skull” that was removed during her emergency craniectomy.
The dancing pro started by writing, “I strongly believe all the prayers that have been sent with the intention and love of Hayley’s recovery has helped so much. I can’t thank you all enough.”
He further added, "She is going in for surgery this morning to replace a large portion of her skull that was removed during her craniectomy."
Hough continued, "Please keep her in your prayers as I believe the collective energy helped her through these past few weeks. We love you we thank you.”
Hayley Erbert suffered cranial hematoma symptoms after their Symphony of Dance tour stop
For the unversed, Erbert experienced symptoms of a cranial hematoma after their performance in the city on December 6th during the Symphony of Dance tour.
In an update shared by Hough on his website, he disclosed that his wife Hayley was diagnosed with a cranial hematoma from a burst blood vessel and required an emergency craniectomy.
Erbert's emergency surgery took place earlier this month on December 7.
Derek Hough regularly updates fans about his wife Hayley’s condition
Since Hayley's surgery, Hough has been sharing regular updates about his wife's condition with their fans on social media.
Not long ago, he posted a video of himself and his wife walking hand-in-hand on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. on his Instagram page.
Then, Derek penned, "As you all know, the past week has been a challenging journey for us due to a life-threatening event that suddenly came into our lives. It was a time filled with uncertainty and fear, going from living our dreams onstage, to a nightmare in an instant. But today, we are filled with hope and relief as we share with you an update."
The former 'Dancing With The Stars' winner added, "Hayley is doing well. Her recovery process has been nothing short of a miracle. She still has a ways to go with another surgery, hopefully in a few weeks, to insert a skull implant to replace the piece that was removed during the craniectomy. It will restore the skull to its natural shape and protect the brain from injury."
He went on to say, "Thank you for the incredible support and medical care she has received. It’s been a profound reminder of how fragile life can be and how quickly things can change. But, it has also shown us the incredible strength and resilience that lies within us and the power of having a supportive community around us."
Hough concluded, "We cannot express enough gratitude to each of you for your unwavering support, messages, prayers and undeniable loving energy we have both felt during this time."

When did Derek Hough and Hayley Erbert get married?
Hough and Erbert got engaged in June 2022.
The two lovebirds walked down the aisle in August 2023 in California. They tied the knot in front of 106 guests.
