LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The June 7 episode of 'Jeopardy!' will be etched in the memory of all loyal fans as the day an embarrassing record was about to be broken. Suresh Krishnan, a network engineer from Suwanee, Georgia, went up against Collette Lee, a math teacher from Paxton, Illinois, and Kristine Rembach, a human rights lawyer from Ghent, New York. The three candidates, who looked like they could answer anything, failed miserably, missing a total of 23 out of 60 clues.

The Triple Stumpers which the show defines as clues missed by all three contestants, is a record not worth mentioning, but the trio came close to breaking it, failing by just one wrong clue. Their abysmal performance on 'Jeopardy!' angered fans, and now the show's producer, Sarah Foss, appears to have spoken to Buzzy Cohen about that unfortunate night on the 'Inside Jeopardy' podcast.

'That's a tough stat to carry with you'

On the latest edition of the ‘Inside Jeopardy!’ podcast, producer Sarah Foss joined former champion Buzzy Cohen to discuss the embarrassing episode that was filled with Triple Stumpers. To their dismay, the particular episode is being described by fans as one of the 10 worst episodes ever. In the podcast, Sarah said, “One thing that was not so great about this game, in this game - this has to be a record - 23 triple stumpers. And it’s something we never like to see.”

Buzzy quickly replied, “No, Not good.” Sarah then continued, “You know, it’s the last game before lunch [since five episodes of Jeopardy! are taped in a single day] maybe everyone's a little hungry or sleepy. But yeah, that's a tough stat to carry with you.” The duo realized that such an event can never transpire again and hoped to erase their memory. "We'll forget it ever happened," the pair joked before moving on to recap the next game of the week.

What happened in the ‘Triple Stumper’ game?

‘Jeopardy!’ champion Suresh Krishnan took on Kristine and Collette at the time. The trio never looked prepared to answer all the questions and there were 23 unresponded clues out of 60 overall. The contestants collectively correctly answered 33 clues for a combined total of $21,400, the lowest of the season so far. This was enough to send fans into a raging frenzy.

One of the contestants, Collette knew she would be in big trouble among the fans for not knowing the answers to so many questions. She took to Reddit and wrote, “Kristine and I commented on that to each other before Final, saying that we were worried we'd go viral for not knowing anything!” She further added, “I personally tried to ‘keep calm and clam up’ to try to avoid ending up in the red with bad guesses but as the game wore on, especially in Double Jeopardy it was obvious we were collectively riding the struggle bus with our board!”
