The 'American Idol' Season 24 stage became even more star-studded with the unexpected appearance of 'The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City' star Britani Bateman. The reality star showed up at auditions to support her niece, Carmen Lorell Martin, and when Carrie Underwood expressed some hesitation, Bateman joined her niece in song, creating a memorable 'American Idol' moment.

Reportedly, Bateman is an accomplished performer with a background in cabaret and Broadway and a former Disney recording contract. Talking about her aunt, Martin shared, "Britani has always been a very big mentor to me to get out there. She has her own spotlight. She's living out her dream, and that's why I'm here too," as per Country Now. Encouraged by her aunt, the El Dorado Hills, California, native entered the audition room ready to meet high expectations. Bateman quickly drew attention by announcing, "I have an announcement… this is my beautiful niece," before asking the judges, "Do you know me?"

After a brief pause, she clarified, "But this is not about me. This is about my amazing, gorgeous, perfect niece, who you are about to hear." Martin then performed a moving rendition of Ty Myers' 'Thought It Was Love', showcasing strong control, emotional depth, and an impressive vocal range. Underwood praised Martin's "really pretty voice" and "really great" range, but wanted to hear more power. Hoping to prove herself, Martin invited her aunt to join her for 'Let Me Be Your Star' from SMASH, blending verses and soaring harmonies that earned applause from the judges before they decided her fate in the competition.

Luke Bryan was the first to offer feedback, telling her that while she was clearly "present" in the moment, the piano held her back from fully "cutting loose," instead pushing her toward a more "proper" delivery. Lionel Richie echoed that sentiment, explaining that the only real way to see whether she could break out of her comfort zone was by putting her directly into the pressure of Season 24. "The only way to put you in a brawl is to say yes so you can go to the next level and meet the rest of this crazy class, and you'll understand what this means. So it's a yes for me," Richie declared.

After Martin promised she would bring more fire to her next performance, Underwood added her own enthusiastic "yes." Bryan then sealed the moment in classic Idol fashion, clinking the wine glass and inviting her to "come get your golden ticket," officially sending her through to the next round of the competition. Carmen later said she played it safe but promised more intensity ahead: "They will see the fire that is inside me and they will see me roar." She then celebrated the milestone with her aunt and family as she prepared to head to Nashville for Hollywood Week.
