Explosive 'War Machine' trailer sees Ranger Alan Ritchson take on a otherworldly threat
Netflix released the trailer of 'Reacher' star Alan Ritchson's much-hyped 'War Machine'. The survival thriller pits Ranger 81 against an otherworldly killing machine that he and his fellow rangers must fend off as it proves to be the deadliest threat Earth faces. The sci-fi flick shows Ritchson as an elite ranger in the final leg of his selection when he runs into a fight that guarantees no survivors.
The trailer opens with Ritchson in a grueling army camp that tests his limits physically and mentally. His Ranger group encounters a mysterious machine during one of their training exercises, and immediately discovers the danger it brings with it. The film will be an early March drop on Netflix.
The official logline reads, “During the final stage of U.S. Army Ranger selection, an elite team’s training exercise turns into a fight for survival against an unimaginable threat.” Directed by Patrick Hughes, the film's cast includes Dennis Quaid, Stephan James, Jai Courtney, Esai Morales, Blake Richardson, Keiynan Lonsdale, and Daniel Webber. Todd Lieberman and Alexander Young serve as producers alongside Patrick Hughes, Rich Cook, and Greg McLean. Valerie Bleth Sharp serves as executive producer.
In related news, Courtney, who stars alongside Ritchson, teased the film. "I’m hearing really great things I think people are really excited about, I mean, it's, you know, kind of high concept, you know, it's really a survival thriller," he told MovieWeb. "And, I mean, look, I'm as curious as you. I can't wait to see what they did, but it was awesome to go down and shoot a film of that scale in Australia. And I think what Patrick Hughes is trying to do there, and bringing those kind of blockbuster-esque, you know, high-concept action films, into the Aussie industries, is really, is really cool."
As for Ritchson, the 'Titans' star hyped the film, calling it the streamer's biggest flick. "Got like nine coming out, dude, it's crazy—War Machine for Netflix. I think, and you heard it here first, probably gonna be the, no, not probably, gonna be the biggest movie that Netflix has had. This movie is gonna be a monster. This is the coolest thing they've ever made, guaranteed." The 'Titans' star will next be seen in 'Motor City', set to release on small screens in 2026 after a world premiere in the Venice Spotlight section last year. The official synopsis reads, "Part operatic fever dream, part adrenaline-soaked action epic, Motor City is a visceral revenge tale set against the industrial backdrop of 1970s Detroit."
'War Machine' releases March 6, 2026, on Netflix.
