Upcoming South Korean dark comedy series ‘Vincenzo’, starring Song Joong-ki in the lead, has already generated a lot of buzz among fans. Directed by Kim Hee-won of ‘The Crowned Clown’ fame, the series has been listed among the 10 most-promising K-drama series of 2021. 'Vincenzo' is set to release on February 20, 2021, at 5.30 pm and will continue till April 25, 2021, for a total of 16 episodes.

Song Joong-ki
Song Joong-ki plays the titular role of Vincenzo Cassano in the series. He is a mafia lawyer and consigliere at an influential family in Italy. However, he was born Park Ju Hyeong in Korea, who was adopted by an Italian family in his childhood. Circumstances bring him back to South Korea, where he gets involved in different challenges of life.
The 35-year-old Song Joong-ki is a familiar face in the Korean film and television industry. Before joining the acting domain, he competed in short track speed skating where he played at the national level for his home city Daejeon. However, he was forced to give up on athletics due to an injury in the first year of high school.
Academically, Song Joong-ki was a brilliant student who scored 380 out of 400 points in the national college entrance test and gained admission to Sungkyuwan University. During this time, he was approached by an agent on the subway, but due to his father’s objection and his own hesitation, he did not join the entertainment industry full-time until his third year in college. He graduated in 2012 with a degree in Business Administration.
His first TV appearance was on a quiz show where he won second place. His rise to fame happened through the ‘Sungkyunkwan Scandal’, a historical coming-of-age drama that aired in 2010. Ever since Song Joong-Ki has played a number of important roles in acclaimed shows like ‘Running Man’ and box-office hit movies like ‘A Werewolf Boy’ and ‘The Battleship Island’. Both of these movies feature among the highest-grossing films of South Korea.
In 2017, Song Joong-ki won the Gallup Korea’s Actor of the Year award. He featured in the Forbes Korea Power Celebrity list three times, his highest rank being second in 2017.
Jeon Yeo-bin
The 31-year-old actress will be essaying the role of Hong Cha Young, a young, determined lawyer in Korea, whom Vincenzo falls in love with. Jeon Yeo-bin debuted in the 2015 period movie ‘The Treacherous’ and then starred in the 2017 hit ‘The Running Actress’.
Her widespread acclaim came through the movie ‘After My Death’ in 2018, which also earned her the Grand Bell Award as Best New Actress. Yeo-bin has also acted in popular drama series like ‘Save Me’, ‘Live’ and ‘Melo Is My Nature’.
Ok Taecyeon
You might know this 32-year-old handsome actor as the main rapper in the K-Pop boy band 2 PM. In ‘Vincenzo’, Taecyeon stars as Jang Jun-Woo, a central character who is a first-year law intern. The handsome and hard-working Jang Jun-Woo often ends up creating trouble due to his awkward and naive demeanor.
Taecyeon made his acting debut through the K-Drama ‘Cinderella’s Sister’ in 2010 and later starred in the KBS drama ‘Dream High’. He emigrated from the US at a young age and he speaks English, Japanese and Korean fluently. He served in the military from 2017 to 2019, before resuming his acting career in 2020 with ‘The Game: Towards Zero’.
Yang Kyung-won
He plays the supporting role of Lee Cheol-wook in the series. The 39-year-old South Korean actor has starred in several drama series like ‘Fight For My Way’, ‘The Liar and His Lover’, ‘The Roots of Throne’, ‘Let’s Eat 3’, ‘Arthdal Chronicles’, ‘Crash Landing on You’ and ‘Hi Bye Mama’. He also acted in the 2016 movie 'Sori: Voice From The Heart'.
Jo Han-chul
The 47-year-old actor acts as Han Seung-hyeok in ‘Vincenzo’. He debuted in the acting industry in 2000 and has appeared in many films and TV series like ‘Scandal’, ‘My Beautiful Bride’ and ‘Mother’.
Kim Yeo-jin
The actress and activist, who plays the role of Choi Myung-hee, debuted in 1995 with the stage play ‘What Do Women Live For’. She is a popular face for her active engagement with civic and socio-political issues - including efforts to restore the jobs of laid-off workers at Hanjin Heavy Industries or her calls to lower tuition fees at university. She has campaigned for several politicians and was banned once by MBC for her outspoken nature.
Other actors appearing in ‘Vincenzo’ include Kwak Dong-yeon, Kim Yoon Hye, Kim Hyung-mook, Choi Deok-moon, Kim Young-woong, Lee Dal and others.
