' V Wars' Season 1: Fayne and Swann's bond is a strong reminder of the brotherly love Damon and Stefan shared in 'The Vampire Diaries'

Apart from sizzling chemistry between the lead couple Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Elena (Nina Dobrev) in 'The Vampire Diaries' (TVD) also provided us with a bromance that actually was more heartwarming than the actual romantic plotlines sometimes. Damon and Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley) were the heartbeats of TVD, and their constant friction, yet undying love for each other propelled the story forward. In fact, it was Stefan who sacrificed himself at the end of the show. And finally, when Damon dies after 'living a long and happy life' with Elena, he sees Stefan in his version of heaven.

In the Netflix adaptation of 'V Wars', which stars Somerhalder again, there's another bromance brewing. Dr Luther Swann (Somerhalder) and Michael Fayne (Adrian Holmes) have been friends for over 30 years. Their close friendship goes for a toss when Fayne is exposed to a deadly virus and turns into a vampire, compelling him to go on a murderous rampage. Swann is desperate to save Fayne from himself at any cost, and while others believe that the vampires are now monsters, he believes otherwise. There are several emotional moments between the two, and Swann repeatedly tries to tell Fayne that he is his closest friend and brother and that he would never want to hurt him. There's much brotherly love that goes on, which can't help but remind you of Damon and Stefan in 'The Vampire Diaries'.

Swann even says the dialogue 'I will not give up on you', something which was echoed back and forth in TVD. The parallels are strong, as Damon enjoyed being a vampire and the taste of blood while Stefan worked hard to discourage him from committing murders, though without much success initially. However, here the premise is different, as vampirism is treated as a form of disease that must be cured in 'V Wars'. Let's wait and watch to see how this bromance unfolds. Will there be redemption for Fayne just like Damon got his?

All episodes of Season 1 'V Wars' are streaming on Netflix on December 5.
