EXCLUSIVE | 'V Wars' actor Peter Outerbridge on what fans can expect from Season 2 should Netflix renew the Ian Somerhalder show

Peter Outerbridge speaks about what he expects for his character Calix Niklos, Dr. Luther Swann and Michael Fayne in a potential Season 2 during a recent chat with MEA WorldWide (MEAWW)

Netflix recently released the first season of 'V Wars' starring Ian Somerhalder and Adrian Holmes, who respectively play Dr. Luther Swann and his best friend, Michael Fayne.

Luther is a scientist working to find a cure for an ancient pathogen — released by melting polar ice caps -- that causes vampirism to help his friend, Michael -- Patient Zero of the virus -- who becomes the leader of the underground faction of vampires.

However, by the end of the season, it becomes clear that the villain of the show is really Calix Niklos — played by Peter Outerbridge — a government official who turns and becomes the leader of the vampires.

Outerbridge recently spoke to MEA WorldWide (MEAWW) about his role on the show and whether Calix is a downright villain.

Though Outerbridge believes Calix acted for the benefit of humans initially, he adds that Calix was written as a bit of a sociopath who does not worry about the moral implications of what he has to do, saying, "he's not haunted by his conscience in terms of what he thinks has to happen and what needs to be done."

What Outerbridge would like to see, should there be a second season for the show, is how Calix manages to rally all the Bloods (vampires) under one cause — something his predecessor, Michael was unable to do.

He shares: "How he is able to organize the Bloods on one hand and try to get them into a cohesive unit as opposed to just a bunch of people running around killing people," is something he would like to explore.

Outerbridge is also sure that Michael is not gone forever — to recap, Michael was voted to be killed because of the events of the last episode of Season 1 — and he believes there will be a conflict between Michael and Calix over who takes control of the Bloods.

Outerbridge adds that a potential second season could pick up a couple of years from the end of Season 1, considering that the show was shot in 2017, adding, "I think to suddenly shift the story forward by two years — a lot can happen in two years, so [it would] be neat to see what the world looks like two years after this outbreak went out of control."

Though Luther and Calix will be on diametrically opposing ends of this war at this point, Outerbridge wonders whether Luther would have shifted his stance on whether vampirism is something to be cured, or whether Luther would just want his son, Dez, back from the Bloods.

For Outerbridge, the fact that his character becomes the main villain, let alone survives, came as a surprise and is excited to see what more the series can explore.

He says, "The people who are Bloods are not necessarily bad people, and don't necessarily want to hurt other people. So you get a situation where these people have transformed into this other thing that they don't want to be, it wasn't their choice."

All episodes of Season 1 of 'V Wars' are now streaming on Netflix.
